“She read books as one would breathe air, to fill up and live.” – Annie Dillard
Reading is and always has been my oxygen, my sanctuary. When I was young, the common refrain was, “she always has her nose in a book”. Books sustain me, stir me, and soothe me, and I have always delighted in the fact that the MotherHouse of the Goddess community was well-populated with bibliophiles like me!
Not only do I love to read books, but I love to talk about books, to share quotes, exchange ideas, and to see what discussion grows from the inspirations gleaned in the pages. To that end …
WELCOME TO THE LITERARY GODDESS CIRCLE – our free book discussion group that is beginning in January 2020!
We have picked some amazing books by female authors; poetry, non-fiction, esoteric fiction, hands-on practices, and all of them deeply moving and inspirational. Our goal is to complete a book within a two month period. We will gather on our Mystery School of the Goddess portal and on Zoom every few weeks to discuss and share. All calls will be archived for those who cannot join live.
Within our online space, we will also share book lists and some prompts to facilitate our discussions.AND we have a Facebook Group to keep in touch and create community!
The books are not included in the group. Each member will purchase their own copy.
The Literary Goddess Circle will be facilitated by Kimberly Moore and Brandi Auset. We are counting on your participation in the discussion to make this a fun and active group!
Will you join us?
OUR CURRENT BOOK IS: Mary Magdalene Revealed by Meggan Watterson
“A feminist theologian then, for me, means I believe that every human being is equal parts ego and soul (and therefore worthy of the same rights). I believe it would do as much harm to call god the mother as it has to call god thef ather for countless centuries. It perpetuates this misunderstanding that any one of us could be greater or less than the other. It feels important to keep expanding our hermeneutics, our vision of what’s good, or god, of what’s holy, and sacred. Because only then, as the mystic William Blake in The Marriage of Heaven and Hell explains, ‘if the doors of perception were cleansed everything would appear as it is, Infinite.‘” ~ Meggan Watterson, Mary Magdalene Revealed, p. 22 – 23
I am absolutely delighted to announce our second book of 2020 as Mary Magdalene Revealed by Meggan Watterson!
I also highly recommend the book in Audible. It is narrated extremely well by Meggan Watterson and I am already into my second Audible replay of it.
Our first call for Mary Magdalene Revealed will be 3/22/20 at 2pm eastern. I wanted to give everyone enough time to get the book and read the first bit.
FIRST CALL: We are covering from the Intro to page 67.
