This VERY potent Total Full Moon Eclipse, also happens to be a Super Moon, which means it will appear closer to Earth than usual. This eclipse is being called “the Eclipse of the Americas”, since it will be visible in totality over much of North and South America (eclipse beginning at 11:29pm ET). It is also the Buddhist celebration of Wesak, when the Love and Compassionate energies of Buddha, the Christ, and Ascended Masters, are released into the hearts and minds of all humanity. Prayers and meditations done on this day are said to revitalize the soul and remove obstacles. This is the perfect time to join with like-minded groups (or on your own) in meditation for world peace and to uplift your energies. A Lunar eclipse acts as an emotional “reset” button. In the signs of Scorpio (Moon) and Taurus (Earth), we are once again in the mode of reassessing our emotional needs and physical security. The water and earth polarity is a very fertile mix. This is the perfect time to take care of your body, stay grounded, but also allow give your creative ideas some space to grow. This moon is also called “the Flower Moon”, so something as simple as tending your garden or walking in nature can free up stuck energy. Both Scorpio and Taurus like to hold onto to things, so releasing old emotional baggage (and stuff) goes a long way now! If you have been feeling a bit out of sorts physically lately, spend a few minutes “moon-gazing”; it is a wonderful way to recharge your psychic batteries. Be good to your body. It is your Temple!

FULL MOON IN SCORPIO TOTAL LUNAR ECLIPSE MAY 16, 2022
In esoteric astrology, this Full Moon in Scorpio is also called the Wesak Moon or Buddha Moon. During the Wesak Full Moon we honor the Master Buddha’s path of enlightenment. In Buddhism, this full moon is believed to be the most powerful one of the year when the Buddha returns to the Wesak Valley in the Himalayas and brings spiritual enlightenment to humanity. This Scorpio Full Moon is a potent reminder that if we commit our hearts fully to the path of Light or Enlightenment, we rise from the physical world of suffering to one of Mastery. No matter what our philosophical or religious beliefs, this is a very potent time on planet Earth for releasing and forgiving OLD hurts, traumas and memories, so that new life may occur.
In mundane astrological terms, Scorpio is the fixed water sign ruled by both the planet Mars and Pluto. This is a highly charged full moon since it is also a TOTAL Lunar eclipse in two fixed signs (Sun in Taurus and Moon in Scorpio) signifying the need to breakdown long -held emotional, psychological and physical patterns. Our emotional compass can be reset, if we have the courage to move beyond the shadows of collective fear.
Once we do some emotional housecleaning, Scorpio energy has the capacity to move from the lowest depths to the highest peaks. It is the spirit of the Phoenix, which rises from the spiritual fire of its own ashes to be reborn into something new. Wherever a system is stuck (whether government, religious, or personal, including emotional/physical/sexual issues), it is time to let go, forgive, and move on to create something new. Nothing in this universe remains stagnant for very long. Change and growth is inevitable.
This eclipse will shake us out of complacency, offering yet another opportunity to let go of old beliefs, situations and circumstances that do not match our inner truth. Often, the murky waters of Scorpio harbor deep secrets. Whether it is an archaeological treasure trove or an emotional trauma, you can expect the Scorpio Full Moon to bring secrets to the light.
This is the climax to the cycle which began with the New Moon solar eclipse in Taurus on April 30th. We have approximately six months until the final eclipse cycle of 2022 occurs on October 25 and November 8, once again in the signs of Scorpio and Taurus, respectively. Where we go from here depends on our capacity to hold the flame of truth and compassion in our hearts.
Every Full Moon illuminates the positive qualities of the sign, as well as its shadow expressions. The Taurus/ Scorpio combination is Earth and Water. These are the fixed signs of fertility and sensuality; but they can also become prone to emotional and sexual insecurity, as well as physical excess. It is extremely important during this time to remain neutral and to walk the Middle Path wherever this combination is found in your chart.
In Taurus/ Scorpio we are dealing with major issues and the basic building blocks of the human condition: Love and Security. The seven deadly sins all revolve around the Taurus/Scorpio axis. Scorpio rules the “hidden” side of life: what is behind the veil, taboo, secret and occult. Scorpio is known as the “sexy” sign, but that translates as inner magnetism, which can attract or repel at will.
We all have an inner Magician, Priestess, Shaman, Psychic Detective, Dark Goddess, and Psychologist indicated by the house where the sign of Scorpio falls in the birth chart. With awareness, these archetypes can be used constructively for our own healing and transformation.
Scorpio is the only sign of the zodiac which has three levels: the Scorpion, the Eagle, and the Phoenix, denoting its inherent potential for total transformation. Like a snake shedding its old skin, Scorpio has the capacity to die to the old self/ego and be reborn. The positive side of Scorpio teaches compassion and forgiveness for ourselves and others, the right use of power, loyalty, and self-discipline. We learn that true intimacy is not based on control or possessiveness, but on the desire for oneness, compassion and truth. The shadow side of Scorpio is abuse of power, secrecy, judgment, emotional repression, obsession, control, revenge and, manipulation. Recognizing and owning your Shadow, rather than projecting onto others, becomes a necessity if you have major Scorpio planets in your chart, especially the Moon (since the Moon rules the subconscious). Working with dreams, shamanic counseling, and other forms of psychotherapy, is an excellent way of bringing the Shadow into awareness.
Scorpio is the water sign also associated with our second chakra: creation and sexuality. The parts of the body ruled by Scorpio are the sex organs and the reproductive and elimination systems. Psychological and emotional blockages commonly show up as physical problems in these areas of the body. Yoga, martial arts, body work and massage, especially lymphatic massage, can be extremely helpful in moving blocked energy. Psychotherapy and astrological counseling, rebirthing techniques, and past life regressions help us move through the emotional fears that keep us “stuck”.
Since Scorpio rules the deep waters of the subconscious, this full moon is a great time to indulge in some quiet reflection on your own. Watch your dreams for messages. Schedule a relaxing massage, treat yourself to an astrology reading, meditate and honor your inner world. But above all, let go of old habits, declutter your mind, and don’t get caught up in the personal dramas of others.
The Eclipse Fixed T-Square: Sun and North Node in Taurus Opposite the Moon in Scorpio Square Saturn in Aquarius: This is a karmic aspect, but it can also feel very heavy, since old habits, traumas, and situations from the past (South Node with the Moon in Scorpio) must be resolved. With Saturn in the mix, these lessons cannot be ignored, if we want to grow and evolve.
Astrologers have been talking about Venus as the ruler of this eclipse with the Sun and North Node in Taurus. Venus rules love and finances, so those issues will take center stage. The Taurus/Scorpio lessons are about our earthly desires: love/sex, money/power and security/control. We have seen the beginnings of this with the controversy (once again) over abortion rights.
Saturn is the great Teacher regarding the material building blocks of 3D reality: form, structure and boundaries. Do you feel “grounded”? Have you been listening to your body? Taurus can overindulge in a good thing. Know and establish your boundaries. Scorpio can become secretive and controlling with emotions and money. Look at where the fear of lack or loss has kept you stuck or blocked in your life. Remember that the earth and water signs nourish fertility and abundance.
Manifestation equals positive belief plus right action minus fear! This is a time when restoration and healing are possible on many levels; we can rise from the ashes of the old. As mentioned earlier, this is a time when prayer, daily meditation and/or mindfulness practices can open you to the flow of universal grace and blessings.
Both Taurus and Scorpio are fixed signs adding the element of stability and endurance to the massive changes we are undergoing on planet Earth. Outer security is never guaranteed, but inner peace can make even the most challenging situations bearable. As someone very wise has said: “The antidote to Fear is Love.”
MARS CONJUNCT NEPTUNE IN PISCES TRINE THE SCORPIO FULL MOON: This is a very healing aspect, since the water elements soothe the soul. Think of a moonlit swim on a romantic beach or luxuriating in rose-petal bath. Mars has taken off his armor in Pisces and wants to go deep sea diving! This aspect helps to release the tension of the previously mentioned fixed square through creative visualization, dreams, meditation, psychic work, music, film and art. Past life and subconscious memories can surface now, and this is a great time to release old habits and trauma through regressions with a professional therapist. My personal favorite activity: watching the full moon rise at the beach!
MERCURY RETROGRADE IN GEMINI: When Mercury is retrograde in his home sign of Gemini, we can expect lots of minor communication snafus – interrupted cell phone service, car trouble, missed appointments, late checks, etc., all the annoyances of everyday life seem to pile up at once! It is very important to watch your words now, as miscommunication is a common occurrence. The positive side of Mercury retrograde in Gemini is that old friends from the past may show up, or you may find something that you thought was lost forever. There is also the opportunity to rethink a situation and make new choices. We don’t often get second chances, so this Mercury retrograde could be a golden opportunity!
FULL MOON MEDITATION WITH THE EGYPTIAN GODDESS SEKHMET
The Lion-headed Goddess Sekhmet represents the female power of Mars and Pluto. She is the Goddess of physical healing and psychological transmutation; the women’s blood mysteries, which govern birth, life and death.
Find your inner sanctuary and relax. (You may want to take a cleansing bath beforehand). Light a white or red candle. Find a comfortable position (sitting or lying down). Take a few deep breaths, letting go of any stress or body discomfort. You are safe and protected by your guides and angels, and only the Light may fill your presence. You see yourself walking along a well-worn and familiar path leading you to the main gate of a Temple enclosure. The moon is high and full and casts a whitish glow over the temple. You can feel the energy and protection of your guides around you. It is a good feeling; you are home. A white-robed priestess awaits you inside the gate. She hands you a cone of frankincense and leads you to a large bronze door, which she slowly opens. The frankincense fills the room. As the smoke from the incense clears, you find yourself standing before a tall statue made of smooth black granite. It is the image of Sekhmet with her beautiful lion face and well-formed woman’s body. She wears the sun disc on her head as she is the daughter of the Sun God, Ra. She carries a lotus staff in one hand and holds the key of life or ankh, in the other. She stands a full head taller than you, and her eyes look down upon your face. You see your own reflection in her eyes. You are safe here, but you cannot keep any secrets from her, for she can see deeply into your heart. Spend some time communing with her. She is here to help you cut the cords that bind you to the past. She can assist in releasing old hurts and betrayals .She can devour the past and assist you in shedding outworn layers of cellular memory. Sekhmet knows the shamanic realms of magic and manifestation. Ask her for your heart’s desire; but know thyself! As you prepare to leave, Sekhmet offers you a gift. There is a small ruby heart lying at her feet; this is for you. You thank her and leave her presence. The white-robed priestess leads you back through the temple moonlight; back to your own time and space. You feel lighter and more peaceful after this journey. You are whole and in a sound state.
May you walk in Truth and Beauty Always!
