FULL MOON LUNAR ECLIPSE IN SAGITTARIUS MAY 26, 2021
Eclipse season of 2021 begins with the May 26 Full Moon Lunar eclipse in the sign of Sagittarius. A lunar eclipse is always a Full Moon but with an added intensity and duration. This eclipse will be followed by the June 10th New Moon Solar eclipse in Gemini.
These eclipses follow a 19- year cycle, which goes back to the year 2002. How have you grown spiritually since then? What have you learned? How have your beliefs and attitudes changed since 2002?
Sagittarius is a fire sign and symbolizes the quest for truth and freedom. It is the spirit of Prometheus stealing fire from the gods in order to enlighten humanity. The sign Sagittarius governs our personal belief systems, our philosophy of life; our spiritual, as well as political conscience. Can we, as humans, finally push the envelope and move out of the matrix of fear? Will our quest for higher consciousness lead us to understand more of our inner reality, as well as explore outer space? As this eclipse season announces yet another new timeline of accelerated planetary and personal growth, we are also in the midst of a karmic re-balancing. It is important to let go of any spiritual ego and to fully understand that we create our reality through our thoughts, words, and beliefs. Evolution is happening whether we are ready or not!
During any Full Moon, the Sun and Moon are in opposite signs. This month, the Sun is in the Air sign, Gemini, and the Moon is in the Fire, sign, Sagittarius. The Fire/Air polarity has a tendency to “speak first and think later”, but this could also trigger the response for much needed action. Check where the signs Sagittarius (the Full Moon) and Gemini (the Sun) fall in your birth chart to see how this cycle plays out for you. Lunar eclipses usually highlight emotional issues: the important women in your life, intimate relationships, habits and past memories. You now have the opportunity to reboot old programming and begin a new 19-year cycle depending on where the eclipse falls in your natal chart.
In general, Sagittarians follows their own intuition and inner guidance tending to be optimistic, adventurous, and good humored most of the time, but they can become vehement opponents when personal beliefs, political beliefs, and religious beliefs are at stake. The shadow side of Sagittarius is fanaticism and dogma. This Full Moon is a good time for an inner reality check. Do your political, spiritual and philosophical views reflect what you actually think, or do you merely regurgitate what you have been sold as the Truth? The lesson of Sagittarius is to have the courage to speak your truth, but to allow others the freedom to express theirs as well. Ideally, Sagittarius charts the course for expanded consciousness. What have you learned over the last 19-years spiritually, intellectually and emotionally? Are you flexible enough to accept change, strong enough to stay centered? The ongoing Saturn/Uranus square of 2021 also emphasizes this theme highlighted by the Full Moon eclipse (more on this later).
The Sagittarian Full Moon emphasizes the need to stretch out of your comfort zone, expand your horizons and open your mind. We are never too old to learn (or teach) something new. Keeping your body flexible keeps your mind flexible and vice versa. You may not be ready to hop on a jet plane yet, but you can enjoy the freedom of nature walking…bicycling … breathing…just being! Take the time to meditate; connect with your Spirit Guides; trust your intuition.
As mentioned above, this is an incredible time to be open to receive the bounty of the Universe and the blessings of the Ascended Light Masters. All Full Moons open the dream floodgates, and this eclipse is especially potent. The messages are there for you; just be open and listen.
The Mutable T-Square with Sun in Gemini opposite the Full Moon in Sagittarius and square Jupiter in Pisces: This is a tricky full moon, especially since it involves a lunar eclipse. There may be a tendency for our minds and actions to be scattered now, and our nervous systems to be on overload. It’s time to unplug from your devices, and quiet your mind. Mixed messages (Gemini), misplaced self-righteousness (Sagittarius), and martyrdom (Pisces) create a perfect storm of fanatical thinking and emotional trigger-points. Jupiter likes to exaggerate and blow things out of proportion. Words do matter now. During this full moon, practicing meditation, doing yoga, journal writing, drumming and dance will all help you connect with your higher self. If you are have trouble concentrating, listening to audio meditation tapes and watching inspirational movies and videos can help to quiet an overactive mind.
Retrograde Saturn in Aquarius Square Uranus in Taurus: As previously stated, this challenging aspect has been in operation since the beginning of the year, so we are slowly becoming attuned to its vibration. If you have natal planets between six and thirteen degrees of Aquarius, Taurus or Leo the “shadow “of this Saturn retrograde will affect your natal planets for most of 2021.This translates as how and where stress plays out in your life, and how well you handle it. Collectively, we are all learning how to balance revolution and change (Aquarius) with lasting stability and structure (Taurus). The current replay of the January 2021 political issues highlights the antagonistic, anxiety provoking nature of this square. We cannot deny either side its due; we need to find the balance. These themes will play out until December when the energy of the square finally dissipates.
Retrograde Mercury in Gemini Square Neptune in Pisces: Mercury turns retrograde on May 29th at twenty-four degrees of Gemini until June 22nd, and it is also squaring Neptune in Pisces. This can be a very confusing time, since Mercury retrograde is more potent in its own sign home of Gemini. Mercury will remain in its shadow from May 22 to July 8th. If you have natal planets in your chart at nineteen to twenty-four degrees of Gemini, Sagittarius or Pisces, you will probably feel this more than others. Gemini likes facts and logic, but left-brain thinking can now become unfocused, since the Neptune (right brain) likes images more than words. Things that seemed clear a few weeks ago may now seem fuzzy. It may be difficult to concentrate. Everyone seems like they have a bad case of “spring fever.” Since both the lunar and solar eclipse fall under this shadow, you may want to put off making any major decisions until July 9. We all have to live our lives, so of course, some things cannot be put off; however, Mercury rules cars, computers and cell phones, so it may be a good idea to forestall those expenditures, if possible, until July (or just keep your sales receipts handy.) On a personal level, Mercury retrograde gives us more time to rethink our actions. Perhaps, you need more time to get the complete picture, especially with two back to back eclipses. With eclipses, secrets often come to light. Give yourself time to get your facts straight; do the re-edit. Sometimes, you just need to unplug from information overload and rest your brain. Pisces loves water, nature, films and music. Indulge yourself!
Mercury Conjunct Venus in Gemini: Gemini is a social animal motivated by curiosity, light-hearted fun, and communication. Gemini wants to leave the adults behind and escape into fun mode. It’s like the entire collective has spring fever. On a personal level, socializing and getting in touch with old friends again after months of hibernation seems to be the order of the day. Thinking about travel? Joining a new club? Attending a social function? Indulge your inner child, but be socially responsible.
Jupiter and Neptune in Pisces: This big shift first began when Jupiter changed signs from Aquarius (Air) to Pisces (Water) back on May 13, where it will remain until the end of July. Then, Jupiter will once again retrograde back into Aquarius until December 28, 2021. So, we will have two months to pull back the Piscean curtain and catch a glimpse of what the future holds: our visions, dreams and hopes. This can be a time of great heart-awakening, when there is a shift in the collective consciousness from technological information overload to a world view that is more visionary, hopeful and compassionate. There will be a strong leaning towards summer escapism at the movies and theatres, beaches, and theme parks, especially those with science fiction or fantasy-like entertainment. However, Jupiter’s movement back into Aquarius at the end of July tells us to proceed with caution. There may be a price to pay later for acting recklessly now. It is worth noting that this is the first time in over a century that Jupiter and Neptune conjoin in Pisces Both the Abolition Movement and the Republican party were founded during that last conjunction.
In ancient Egypt, the god Thoth was the god of wisdom, medicine, writing and all esoteric knowledge. He was also considered as the lunar deity of sacred numbers and the calendar system. The Greeks knew him as Hermes, and the Romans as Mercury. In Egypt, he is depicted as a tall man with the head of an ibis bird holding a long reed pen (stylus) and scribe’s palette. He was considered the Master of Magic and Alchemy, and the author of the “Emerald Tablets”. During this Full Moon, you may want to call on Thoth as a Guide to help you access your inner wisdom and your healing words of power.
MEDITATION WITH THE EGYPTIAN GOD, THOTH:
If you have a particular crystal that you work with for meditation, please do so.Thoth favors moonstone, emerald, and clear quartz. You may also use a white or yellow candle. Find a comfortable position where your body feels at ease and close your eyes. Take a few deep breaths while emptying your mind of the day’s thoughts and concerns. Concentrate on a golden ball of energy floating above you. Visualize this golden aura of light extending from the top of your head to the soles of your feet. Continue to breathe deeply. Feel a golden spiral of energy spinning inside your heart chakra and, then, filling your body from the inside out with a warm, expansive glow. As your body begins to feel lighter, you feel as if you are being transported into an enormous pyramid of golden light. You have entered a hidden chamber, filled with columns of emerald green and gold, which create cascading prisms of light everywhere. As this celestial light filters through your body, you realize that you have now entered the crystalline Temple of the Egyptian god, Thoth. This temple contains your soul’s Hall of Records, where you can access your “soul signature” and purpose. You now see the form of the god, Thoth, standing before you. In his hand he holds a pure white scroll with your name written in golden letters. He tells you this is your time of “graduation”. You have passed some extremely difficult tests over the past few months, and now you are ready to start a new cycle. Take some time to meditate on what it is that you really wish to manifest in the coming weeks. Try to be as specific as possible. Thoth reminds you that your words and thoughts are extremely powerful. Thoth now places the scroll into your hands. There may be a symbol; word or sound that comes to you when you feel it. This is part of your “soul signature”, and you are now ready to recognize it. Your heart expands with light at his words, and your mind feels crystal clear. You are energized and excited as you come back to your full consciousness and realize what an extraordinary adventure awaits you!!
