Happy Mother’s Day! May has always been a very special time, as it is the month when we honor “Mother”, as well as the love in our lives. It’s the time to unwind a bit, enjoy our closest relationships, and of course, appreciate our Mother Earth. The Moon in Taurus emphasizes patience and persistence, rather than fruitless activity. Taurus wants to build something of lasting, practical value…slow and steady. The month ends with a total lunar eclipse in Sagittarius, so things will change up soon enough! If you live in parts of the western USA, western South America, or Australia, you will see this Super Full Moon totally eclipsed for approximately fourteen minutes (more on this next time). This New Moon in the sign of Taurus is also connected to the Pleiades constellation, which many ancient and indigenous cultures regarded as Home. In ancient Egypt, Hathor, the Goddess of love, music and beauty, ruled over the sign of Taurus and the constellation of the Pleiades. Her initiates were taught that “the Body is the Temple, and Sound is the Key”. Set your intentions and affirmations on this New Moon to be sound in mind, body and spirit!

MOON IN TAURUS MAY 11, 2021
All New Moons signify renewal and new beginnings; new seeds are planted for the month. This month’s New Moon falls in the Earth sign Taurus, which rules the five senses of the physical world. The sign of Taurus shows how well we nurture our bodies, as well as our connection to the earth, our groundedness. What is your relationship to food, sex, money, material possessions? Are you in control of your appetites, or do they control you?
We are beginning a new eclipse season at the end of May, which means a new cycle of growth is coming. What would you like to create for yourself over the coming weeks? Set your intentions…new job, more income… new home… better health? Open to new possibilities and potentials. This is a time to fully commit to something, which may have seemed impossible just a few months ago. This New Moon may push you out of your comfort zone (Uranus in Taurus); however it is the perfect preparation for the total Lunar Eclipse (May 26) when we hit the cosmic “refresh button”.
Personally Speaking:
You will feel this New Moon wherever you have the sign Taurus falling in your birth chart. The Moon in Taurus is your comfort zone; it is where you find your security blanket. The Moon in Taurus is represented by the Great Earth Mother, nurturing and safe. Taureans usually can appreciate the finer things in life, and usually take great pride in what they build. Because the feeling of security is so important for Taureans, they can be very adept in the financial world of banking, stocks, and real estate; however they may also become too attached to material possessions when they feel insecure. The down side is that Moon in Taurus can be stubborn and slow to change; however with Uranus falling in the sign of Taurus with this New Moon, even the most stalwart Taureans may begin to feel restless and welcome the desire for change.
A good use of the Taurean energy is to spend as much time in nature as you can. Science has proven that just by walking outside and listening to the birds sing; you can totally uplift your mood. It is also said that Taurus is the sign of the “green thumb”. Even if you do not have a garden, adding fresh flowers in your home can be very healing. Texture, touch and taste are all important to the Taurean nature. Taurean talents can be expressed through singing, art, dance, crafts, fashion, architecture, and especially food. Cooking for loved ones and/or yourself can be relaxing, enjoyable and good therapy.
Things that come from the earth are also under the rulership of Taurus: gemstones, crystals, flowers, herbs and plant medicines. Green gemstones and crystals, especially emerald, jade, malachite are good meditation stones for meditation with the Moon in Taurus. Since the throat chakra and the voice are also ruled by Taurus, many famous singers, such as Barbara Streisand and Bono, have strong planets in Taurus. Singing along to your favorite music, chanting and drumming are all great ways of expressing your throat chakra energy.
Planetary Forecast:
Sun, Moon and Uranus in Taurus Square Saturn in Aquarius:
With both the luminaries conjunct Uranus, you can expect the unexpected! There may be a tendency to act and think irrationally, making hasty emotional decisions. With Saturn in the mix, you will need to find the balance between restlessness and commitment. Both Taurus and Aquarius are fixed signs; the changes will not come overnight, but when they do, they will be lasting. As stated previously, some of the “unsettling” circumstances have been around for a while and are setting the stage for the summer eclipses, which will bring about long-awaited changes. The positive news with Uranus and the Moon conjunct is that we may see new and innovative ideas coming from women that change the status quo. A hot Taurus/Uranus topic is the high profile Gates’ divorce. We can expect more of these big money break-ups in the future. Melania Trump may not be far behind.
Sun/ Moon in Taurus Trine Pluto in Capricorn Sextile Neptune in Pisces:
This is a very positive aspect which enhances our sense of emotional and material security. We feel more confident about fulfilling our needs; more self-reliant and responsible. We can, once again, dare to hope. Collectively, we will see that in a return to the workforce, as well as a rise in real estate/home sales across the country. On a transformational level, we are finally feeling supported to nourish and build our dreams one again. Both Pluto and Neptune are evolutionary outer planets that open up the “big picture”. Spiritually speaking, we are entering a new cycle, the New Earth!
Mars in Cancer Sextile Uranus in Taurus:
This aspect stimulates creative and restorative changes in our lives. Water (Mars in Cancer) and Earth (Uranus in Taurus) signs are very fertile. Things grow. Now is the time to plant and nourish your new manifestation garden. With Mars in Cancer, you may feel more sentimental or nostalgic towards old friends and family. Emotions are close to the surface when Mars is in Cancer.
North Node Conjunct Mercury in Gemini Trine Saturn in Aquarius:
This Air sign aspect has been around since late March bringing in fresh perspectives and ideas and opening energetic pathways in our thinking. Aquarius is all about freedom and innovation; Gemini is the bi-cameral mind, the brain. We no longer need to be in mental lockdown; however it takes self-discipline and hard work (Saturn) to break out of old thinking patterns and old habits. Words have power. Be aware of how language and media are used to construct your everyday reality. You do have the power to think for yourself.
This aspect also makes a positive Sextile to Chiron in Aries (the Wounded Healer) showing that the old masculine archetype of the god of war and violence is being transformed. On a personal level, old traumas, wounds, and past history can undergo a powerful healing.
HISTORICALLY SPEAKING:
In ancient Egypt, the Goddess Hathor was the goddess of Love, Joy, Sensuality, Beauty, the Arts, and Astrology. She was known in later times as Aphrodite (Greece) and Venus (Rome); and as such, she is the ruler of the sign Taurus and considered to be a symbol of the fertile Earth Mother Goddess (the Empress in the Tarot). By working with Hathor’s energy, we are able to bring more joy and love into our lives.
Meditation for Moon in Taurus with the Egyptian Goddess Hathor:
You may want to prepare for this meditation with a relaxing aromatherapy bath. You may light a white, pink or green candle. Find a comfortable position where your body feels at ease. Close your eyes and take a few deep breaths slowly dissolving any intrusive thoughts or tension in your body. As you continue to breathe deeply, you envision a golden ball of energy floating above your body, and encircling you from the soles of your feet to the top of your head. Continue breathing. Feel the golden spiral of energy enter your heart chakra and filling your body from the inside out with a warm glow. This golden light energy feels soothing and relaxing, as if your internal organs are being massaged with liquid golden light. Now, as your body begins to feel lighter, you see the form of a beautiful woman standing in front of you. This is Hathor, the Egyptian Goddess of beauty, love and music. She wears a long, shimmering white garment, and a beautiful blue lotus necklace made of exquisite turquoise and pure gold. In one hand, she holds a metal rattle, called the sistrum; its sound banishes all negative vibrations. In her other hand, she holds the Ankh, the symbol of eternal life. On her dark hair sits the royal sun-disc crown worn by the queens of ancient Egypt. As your inner perception becomes more attuned to her radiance, you hear the soft rattle of her sistrum, and her sweet voice chanting your name very softly. As you listen to the sound of her voice blending harmoniously with the sistrum, your body begins to vibrate to a new healing frequency, resonating like a tuning fork. This is your own personal tone. You feel your heart expand; your throat chakra open; you feel less burdened. Hathor sings her song just for you, and your body knows how to translate it. You allow these sounds to rest within your cells for as long as you need. You feel restored and replenished. As you open your eyes, you see that Hathor has left you a gift, a beautiful Blue Lotus flower. As you return back to this time and space, her message rings in your ears: “May you walk in Truth and Beauty Always!
