Happy Valentine’s Day! We can all use a bit more love in our lives! This New Moon’s electrifying line-up of six Aquarian planets (Sun/Moon/Mercury/Venus/Jupiter/Saturn) says that it’s time to get out of any mental ruts and expand your horizons. We began this theme back in mid-December 2020 when both Jupiter and Saturn moved into Aquarius (the Grand Conjunction), and now the Aquarian energy is totally ramping up! This promises to be a busy, “buzzy” month. If the Capricorn theme of 2020 was restriction; the theme of 2021 is freedom! This New Moon is also a bit of a wild-card, as the huge download of Aquarian energy ushers in unexpected surprises, insights and “blasts from the past” with Mercury Retrograde. Aquarius allows science fiction to become science fact. There was a time when people believed the earth was flat, and the sun revolved around the earth. The New Age becomes the Now Age, but only if we have the courage to move past negative thinking and fear, personally and collectively. What is your BIG picture? Go for it! This New Moon at 23 degrees of Aquarius also coincides with the beginning of the Chinese Lunar New Year called Losar in Tibet. This Year is the year of the Metal Ox, which is positive for both personal and business relationships.

NEW MOON IN AQUARIUS
All New Moons are new beginnings and this New Moon is quite significant in that there are 6 planets in the air sign Aquarius (Sun, Moon, Mercury, Venus, Jupiter and Saturn). This grouping in one sign is called a stellium, and it signifies that a very potent, accelerated beam of Aquarian frequency is being infused into human consciousness. Many astrologers have equated this stellium as one of the symbolic marker points for moving into the Age of Aquarius and, in fact, the last time we had such a great influx of Aquarian energy was in the mid-1960’s when humanity went through sweeping cultural, political and philosophical changes.
Aquarius is the air sign most equated with personal freedom and independence (ruled by the planet Uranus); therefore, breaking out of old patterns of inequality and power abuse (on every level) is the karmic lesson. Chaos often precedes eras of Enlightenment. We are entering a point of critical mass, balancing lessons going back to Atlantis in the Age of Leo 13,000 years ago.
The sign Aquarius (opposite the sign of Leo) is the “Water Bearer” of the zodiac, but what is being poured is not liquid, but enlightened energy. We receive this “elixir of the gods” as electromagnetic frequency. Our brains get amped up and new neuronal pathways open. The brain and the heart must be connected (Leo and Aquarius) for enlightenment to occur as symbolized in the human-headed Lion Sphinx of Giza, the major stargate portal that connects humanity with its past and possible futures.
We are already shifting into the New Age, of Aquarius, but the transmutation process is not an easy one. With freedom comes responsibility. We, humans, are responsible for the New Earth we are creating.
PERSONALLY SPEAKING:
Aquarius is known as the intellectual and future-oriented sign for a good reason. Its key symbol, the sacred vessel, vase, or urn is the symbolic of the great womb of creation from which all life is born. In many world mythologies this is symbolized as the cauldron of inspiration, the Grail, and the waters of life; but Aquarius is not a water sign, it is an air sign.
This New Moon in air is all about intuition, perception, and birthing new ideas. Aquarius is the sign of the progressive thinker, the bohemian artist, the political reformer, as well as the scientist, the astrologer, the computer whiz, and closet rebel. If you have the Moon in Aquarius, this is your personal New Moon. Aquarians are usually very cool, calm and detached personalities, which make them very interesting to other people. They dislike emotional drama and prefer Mr. Spock to Jerry Springer. They can also be great humanitarians working for a cause or philosophy, whether it is in the arts or sciences. Famous Moon in Aquarius personalities are: John Lennon, Lady Diana Spencer, and John F Kennedy, Jr.. Although they are group minded with a diverse array of friends, Aquarians often prefer to be alone. You can usually find them working at a solo table in the midst of a crowded coffee shop or internet café.
New Moons are always a good time for seeding new ideas and intentions. In the sign of Aquarius our intuitive abilities are heightened; so this is a very potent time to work with astrology, reiki or crystals, acupuncture and any of the energy healing modalities that have become known as “New Age” techniques. If you have any planets in late degrees of Aquarius (or Aquarius rising in your birth chart), you will also be most affected by this New Moon. Where the sign of Aquarius falls in your natal chart is where you are more receptive to receiving (and sharing) information on a body/mind/spirit level. This house is where your inner radar is operating at plus ten! Trust your intuition at this time. We all have a soul purpose, and an authentic self, which differs from what family, friends, or society have imprinted on us. Take a personal inventory; are you following your own path? We all have responsibilities and duties in life, but self -expression does not necessarily have to be stifled in order to take care of them. Voicing your opinion and taking a stand on something that you believe in can make a difference in the world around you. Just be sure to allow others the same privilege.
Creativity comes in many forms. Dare to be different. We don’t all have to be successful artists, but volunteering your time and energy to a worthy cause is a rather unique way to share your talents with others. In this age of technology when our thoughts and ideas can be transmitted globally in a matter of seconds, it is important to remember that with knowledge comes power AND responsibility. This New Moon is a great time to set goals for the future and to expand your vision. Aquarius is all about evolution/revolution. This is the time to move past fear, break free of old limiting beliefs and breathe new life into your cells.
PLANETARY PICTURES: The Aquarian Stellium
Sun/Moon/Mercury/Venus/Jupiter/Saturn in Aquarius: This aspect can be quite challenging, or quite invigorating, depending on how flexible you are with change, and if you can be open to new ideas. We can definitely expect the unexpected now; so stubbornness, rigidity, and inflexible attitudes can cause major downfalls. Although Aquarius energy can be likened to a “breath of fresh air”, sometimes opening a long stuck window can create a bit of chaos in the atmosphere. The confusion stirred up by political house-cleaning is just one manifestation. We may see others, such ever-increasing turbulent weather patterns: cyclones, tornadoes, big winds etc.; and ever increasing news stories concerning cyber-abuse and national security problems. A positive use of this aspect would be using wind powered technology for energy consumption, and announcing major medical/scientific breakthroughs. On a personal level, be open to new ideas and new situations in your life, as you may gain some creative insight concerning old problems, (especially with Mercury Retrograde in Aquarius) in the house where the sign of Aquarius falls in your natal chart. Finally, Venus Conjunct Jupiter in Aquarius offer a positive and uplifting note in this Aquarian blend. It’s like finding an over-looked gift card. Positive thinking goes a long way right now!
Saturn in Aquarius Square Uranus in Taurus: This is the big transit picture of 2021! Both planets are in fixed signs and will be repeating this square aspect three times during 2021. The first occurs on February 17th, then June and December 2021. This aspect symbolizes frustration and stress that has been building for a long time (Saturn) and wants to be released (Uranus).The square brings a situation up to awareness; it cannot be ignored. You finally see why something is happening and take the appropriate action. This first “hit” of the energy can be quite stressful, but it will give clues as to what the following two time periods will be about. This first square will be in operation approximately until the next full moon. Collectively, this transit is about financial stability and reforming structures and systems. On a personal level, it is extremely important to pay attention to your body. Do not ignore anything that comes up right now as a physical problem. Your body is talking. If you experience headaches, restlessness or insomnia during this time, your nervous system may be on overload. Drink more water containing electrolytes and vitamin C (avoid chemical additives and sweeteners). Whatever reduces stress in your life, do more of: meditation, yoga, walking, deep breathing, stretching, and of course, being in nature. Saturn in Aquarius rules the spine, lower legs and ankles. Staying grounded is essential.
Mars in Taurus Square the Aquarian Stellium: Mars in Taurus is creating a very dynamic, but stressful square with the Aquarian planets. This shows up as a challenge between material security (Taurus) and collective goals (Aquarius). Are we seeing a pattern/theme emerging here with all of these square patterns? There can be a stubborn resistance to change at first, since all are planets are in fixed signs, but “something’s got to give”, as the saying goes. The predominance of air signs may do a lot of talking, but it is difficult to convince a stubborn Mars in Taurus. On a positive note, Mars in the earth sign will ground all the Aquarian frenetic energy. Small, patient steps add up to reform the big picture. On a personal level, create a sacred space or altar in your home for quiet reflection with your favorite crystals, flowers and personal objects. Follow a healthy diet, spend time in nature, respect Mother Earth, help someone (or an animal) in need, and practice gratitude whenever possible.
Neptune in Pisces Sextile Mars in Taurus: The two non-air planets show us the way out of chaos and confusion is through compassion, meditation, spirituality, nature and the arts. Taking care of our bodies is a necessity, not a luxury now. Healing comes in many forms. Be your own best Valentine and do something relaxing for yourself!
HISTORICALLY SPEAKING: Egyptian Goddess Nut /Dendera Temple
In ancient Egypt, the sign Aquarius was associated with the Sky Goddess Nut, whose body arches over earth to form the vault of heaven and the heart of the Milky Way. In the hieroglyphic system, the sacred water jar was the symbol of the Goddess Nut, as well as the feminine principle. This key symbol, the sacred vessel, represents the womb of the Great Mother, the Grail of cosmic consciousness. Inside her chapel at Dendera Temple, the ancient Egyptian New Year was celebrated as the star Sirius rose in the heavens. It was a time of renewal, hope and optimism that the Great Goddess would bestow her blessings on the land through the abundance of the life-giving Nile. If Isis is the World Mother, then Nut is our Star Mother. Like the Star card in the Tarot deck, she gives us hope for the future. She is the harbinger of the New Age of Aquarius. A new world is being born.
MEDITATION FOR THE NEW MOON IN AQUARIUS:
Find a quiet space to meditate, light a white or violet candle (or both).Ask your guides to assist you in manifesting your Spiritual vision and Life Purpose….watch your dreams for answers. Use the energy of this New Moon in Aquarius to help you redefine your “mission statement” for the future; and to aid in releasing what no longer serves your higher purpose. Breathe deeply and feel yourself connecting from the core of the planet to the heart of the Milky Way. Connect with the Sky Goddess Nut and feel a cosmic blue-white shaft of light beam from the center of the galaxy into your solar plexus igniting your “inner fire” and moving up to your Heart. This blue-white beams turns into a beautiful blue lotus and opens in your heart center. You are one with the Goddess Nut as she births the New Sun. Imagine your body as a chalice or grail holding the light of this new sun. Feel this light nurturing and energizing you as you continue on your path.
