Hello Everyone and Welcome to 2021!
The first New Moon of 2021 falls in the sign of Capricorn, the Earth sign which dominated much of the astrological pictures of 2020. Hopefully, we have graduated from the intense lessons of the Saturn/ Pluto conjunction to a new level of awareness; and, depending on where the sign Capricorn falls in your chart; you have transformed at least one area of your life. Congratulations on having made it through the Grand Initiation of 2020!
As the winds of change make a very volatile and dramatic entry into collective events right now, it is important to remember that only open minds and hearts can build a sustainable and lasting future. We are at the beginning of a twenty-year cycle that is within an eight hundred year cycle (Jupiter and Saturn conjunct at 0 degrees Aquarius). How will we usher in this New Age? There is always renewed hope and promise as a New Year begins; but as the ancient Egyptians taught, we must open our eyes and hearts to be fully open to receive the Universal flow of energy. This is not the time to get caught up in the churning mass of collective chaos and confusion; it will only keep us stuck in the old paradigm of “divide and conquer”. We are a country founded “by the people, for the people, and of the people.” Those principles do not succumb to mob rule or tyranny. Like an individual, a nation must learn its lessons and move through its karma. The future is a blank page waiting to be written; choose your thoughts wisely.

NEW MOON IN CAPRICORN JANUARY 12, 2021:
All New Moons are about seeding consciousness for a new beginning, and this first New Moon of 2021 comes in on a momentous tidal wave of energy. New opportunities and growth (Capricorn) combine with a breath of fresh air and change (Aquarius). This Capricorn New Moon is the perfect time to refresh your intentions and goals for the New Year. What would you like to manifest in your material reality? What goals would you like to achieve? During this New Moon, Venus is also in the sign of Capricorn; she is very determined and self-sufficient in this very capable Earth sign. She is the anti-Drama Queen in Capricorn, more focused on taking care of business than dysfunctional relationships. This is a great time for getting your finances in order; creating a new business plan for yourself, and getting more self-disciplined about those New Year resolutions!
During this New Moon, the Sun, Moon, and Pluto are all fall close to the “power degree” of twenty-three Capricorn, the same degree of the major Saturn/Pluto conjunction of 2020. This is a cosmic trigger point! During the entire last year, the conjunction of Saturn and Pluto tested our faith and resolve again and again. The good news is that now the planetary trio of Mercury, Jupiter, and Saturn in the air sign of Aquarius is also aligned with the Capricorn New Moon. We now have the opportunity to rethink and rebuild the basic foundation and structure of our lives, if we choose to do so; but we must leave fear behind. We cannot drag old belief systems, old grudges, and hate-filled ideologies into the new energy; they are the chains that bind us to old karma. However, out of control Aquarian energy can spin into chaos. Saturn, as the co-ruler of Aquarius (along with Uranus), can curb the Uranian inclination towards lawlessness.
The final (December 14th) Sagittarius Solar Eclipse of 2020 opened up an entirely new galactic wave of energy for all sentient beings on Mother Earth. However, we must be willing to give up the ghost of the past before the new pathways, new circumstances, new solutions, and new relationships can manifest in our lives. More often than not, there are endings or final closures before the new beginnings can occur. Look to where you felt stuck or powerless over the past year. This New Moon can “rev up” your mojo and get you into forward motion once again, but you must be willing and open to change. We do have some powerful cosmic coaches on our side.
Mercury in Aquarius says “Listen to your intuition. Be open to new ideas. Think out of the box.”
Jupiter in Aquarius says: “Take a risk. Expand your mind. Learn something new.”
Saturn in Aquarius says: “With freedom comes responsibility. Express yourself and give others the same freedom.”
PLANETARY PICTURES:
January 2021 is the first month in over a year in which we have no retrograde planets (Uranus moves direct on January 14). Events will move swiftly after the New Moon on January 12th. As previously stated, this New Moon has four planets (Sun, Moon, Pluto, and Venus) in the sign of Capricorn. The transformational planet Pluto in the sign of Capricorn signifies major changes in government, big business, and power structures are ongoing. Since the natal Pluto in the USA is at 27 degrees Capricorn, we will not be out of Pluto’s shadow for some time. (More to come regarding the Pluto Return of the USA (February 2022 to October 2023) when Pluto returns to the same degree as it was on July 4, 1776). Right now, each individual has a choice to look to the future with new solutions in mind, or cling to old agendas fueled by untruths, conspiracies, and collective fears.
Mercury, Jupiter, and Saturn in Aquarius Square Mars and Uranus in Taurus: This powerful aspect signifies a huge energy shift in consciousness! In astrology, a square (90-degree angle) signifies a challenge that must be worked out. There is no ignoring it. Aquarius and Taurus are both fixed signs and both can be very stubborn and opinionated. The shift from conflict to resolution (whether internal or external) comes with patience (Taurus) and a willingness to be open to new ideas (Aquarius). Mars and Uranus together can be quite explosive. Temper tantrums and acting out do not really resolve stuck issues. Aquarius uses words and ideas; Taurus uses actions. Mars and Uranus together can bring things to a quick climax for better or worse. On a collective level, do not get caught up in other people’s agendas, rhetoric, or belief systems. Maintain your boundaries. Your mind is your most important intellectual property. If you don’t value it, who will? On a personal level, take a deep breath…moving out of your comfort zone may be uncomfortable at first, but quite liberating in the long run.
PERSONALLY SPEAKING:
If you have a Capricorn Sun, Moon, or Ascendant, this first New Moon is very important for you. It is the reset button for your New Year. Capricorns are not afraid of hard work, but they do not like to feel uprooted. It is always good to remember that change is not necessarily disruptive; it can also be exciting and life-affirming. On the positive side, Capricorns are extremely alert to advantageous opportunities and the best way to utilize them.
Capricorn often receives a bad rap for being too unemotional, too ambitious, and too concerned with money. This is the Capricorn “shadow” of becoming too entranced by the material world. However, Capricorn is also the cardinal Earth sign which symbolizes our connection to Mother Earth (the Pacha Mama); as well as our spiritual lineage, and ancestral traditions and roots. Capricorn grounds us in physicality and in our bodies; it allows us to build a solid foundation for the future. In esoteric astrology, Capricorn is the sign of the Master, as well as the Initiate. It is the “Hermit” of the tarot deck, whose message is to seek our own inner guidance and listen to the messages from Spirit. We can draw great comfort from our spiritual teachers and lineages right now as we deal with the challenges of the 3D world. It is also important to remember that Mastery is not automatically given; it is achieved only after hard work and self-discipline.
The Capricorn theme is “wisdom learned through experience”. Capricorn rules the physical support system of the body: the skeleton, bones, teeth, and skin. Capricorn teaches us to take responsibility for our bodies in physical reality. We cannot complete our spiritual work unless our bodies can handle the immense influx of energies pouring into the planet at this time. It is time to work with the healing gifts of Mother Earth to help ground and stabilize our physical bodies. Gemstones, crystals, essential oils, and medicinal herbs all work well with the Capricorn earth energy. Spend more time in nature; breath more; walk more; eat healthier. Honoring our bodies as Temples of Light is part of the program now.
Blessings and Peace,
Mary
