This is certainly a tumultuous and unpredictable time, but there is light at the end of the tunnel. It is important to stay focused and centered especially during mid-November as we take the final dip of the 2020 roller-coaster ride. Just prior to this New Moon in Scorpio, Jupiter conjoined Pluto in Capricorn for the third and final time (11/12) and Mars turned direct in Aries (11/13), completing its retrograde phase which began back on September 9th. We are full on in the Scorpio season of endings and beginnings until the Full Moon at the end of the month.

NEW MOON IN SCORPIO: November 14-15, 2020
The year 2020 will go down in history as an evolutionary crossroads for humanity, and the astrology for this year tells the story. We began in January with a total lunar eclipse and the Pluto/Saturn conjunction that inaugurated an “almost” presidential impeachment along with the onslaught of a global pandemic. Now, post-election on November 13th, the saga continues to its finale, as the procession of planetary retrogrades that began back in May finally ends.
New Moons always signify a “seeding” time; a time for laying the groundwork for the future. This month’s New Moon in Scorpio, is a fixed water sign ruled by both Mars and Pluto, signifying the need to break down long-held emotional and psychological patterns. If Libra is all about diplomacy, Scorpio is all about taking back your personal power. Striking a balance between the two is the lesson. You can be passionate without being ruthless; you can be fair without becoming a victim.
The shadow side of the fixed signs is that they can become possessive and obsessive. We see this with politicians and governments who blame and scapegoat each other; sometimes it is more difficult to recognize that shadow within ourselves. The message is the same for individuals as well as governments. NOW is the time to let go, forgive, and move on to create something new. Nothing in this universe remains stuck for very long. Change and growth is inevitable.
PERSONALLY SPEAKING:
In the sign of Scorpio we are dealing with TRUST issues. How well do we trust ourselves? Others? Scorpio rules the “hidden” side of life…what is behind the veil, taboo, secret and occult. Scorpio is known as the “sexy” sign, but that translates as inner magnetism, which can attract or repel at will.
We all have an inner Magician, Priestess, Shaman, Psychic Detective, Dark Goddess, and Psychologist indicated by the house where the sign of Scorpio falls in the birth chart. With awareness, these archetypes can be used constructively for personal healing and transformation.
Scorpio is the only sign of the zodiac that has three levels: the Scorpion, the Eagle, and the Phoenix, denoting its inherent potential for total transformation. Like a snake shedding its old skin, Scorpio has the capacity to die to the old self/ego and be reborn. The positive side of Scorpio teaches compassion and forgiveness for ourselves and others; the right use of power, loyalty, and self-discipline. We learn that true intimacy is not based on control or possessiveness, but on the desire for oneness, compassion and truth. The shadow side of Scorpio is the abuse of power, secrecy, judgment, emotional repression, obsession, control, revenge and, manipulation. Recognizing and owning your shadow, rather than projecting it onto others, becomes a necessity if you have major Scorpio planets in your chart, especially the Moon (since the Moon rules the subconscious). Working with dreams, shamanic counseling, and other forms of psychotherapy, are all excellent ways of bringing the Shadow into awareness.
Scorpio is the water sign also associated with our second chakra: creation and sexuality. The parts of the body ruled by Scorpio are the sex organs and the reproductive and elimination systems. Psychological and emotional blockages commonly show up as physical problems in these areas of the body. Yoga, martial arts, body work and massage, especially lymphatic massage, can be extremely helpful in moving blocked energy. Astrological counseling, past life regressions and rebirthing techniques, all assist in moving through the emotional fears that keep us stuck.
During this New Moon, take some time out for yourself to reconnect with your spiritual source and write down your intentions for the remainder of this year. These intentions will get a powerful energetic “reboot” with the December 14th New Moon total solar eclipse. Since Scorpio rules the deep waters of the subconscious, this New Moon is a great time to indulge in some quiet reflection on your own. Watch your dreams for messages; begin a spiritual journal, meditate, and honor your inner world.

PLANETARY PICTURES:
Sun, Moon and Mercury in Scorpio Sextile Saturn, Pluto and Jupiter in Capricorn:
This is very positive aspect can add a dose of earthy practicality and self determination to optimize to our goals and aspirations. Moon in Scorpio feelings run deep, and Mercury in Scorpio is the sign of the psychic detective. Secrets are revealed. This can be a very healing time for releasing old drama/ trauma both psychologically and physically. Healthy purging is necessary to get rid of toxicity, but in the meantime, be compassionate with yourself and others. This combination of water and earth aspects can be very good for working with psychology, doing any type of research, resolving financial matters and getting to the root of any problem. Long-lasting solutions are possible now!
Jupiter and Pluto Conjunct in Capricorn:
Jupiter and Pluto are outer planets, which have more to do with the collective consciousness than purely personal issues. We usually experience these transits via the “trickledown effect”. As mentioned earlier, this is the third and final Jupiter/Pluto conjunction of 2020. This is a “do or die” aspect. Jupiter expands and exaggerates whatever it touches and Pluto will destroy whatever is in its path in the name of transformation. Earlier in the year, this conjunction manifested as surges and spikes in Covid cases (late March/April) and as raging forest fires, protests, and the Black Lives Matter Movement (June/July). Now mid -November, we are seeing an upsurge in Covid cases once again, as well as the unprecedented, post-election battle for the presidency of the USA. The good news is that by the time we experience the third hit of retrograde planets, we are (hopefully) more familiar with the challenges and wiser about the solutions.(For more on this transit and Mars in Aries, listen to the Astrology Podcast)
Mars in Aries Direct:
On November 13th, Mars in Aries turns stationary direct and begins its movement back through the second half of the sign of Aries until January 2021. Although this is a direct movement, do not expect things to turn around quickly just yet. Mars is SLOW now moving only one degree by the end of November!
(For more about the repeating themes of the Mars squares, see link for my new Astrology podcast above and the “Mars Code” class above).
Venus in Libra Square Pluto in Capricorn:
This aspect can highlight challenges with relationships and finances, but Venus pictures are very short-term, lasting only a short time. In a few days Venus will join the Sun and Mercury in Scorpio, who work well with Pluto in Capricorn. Feeling your mission is important now, but remain aware of becoming too attached or obsessive about relationships and/or finances.
MEDITATION WITH THE EGYPTIAN GODDESS SEKHMET :
The Lion-headed Goddess Sekhmet represents the female power of Mars and Pluto. She is the Goddess of physical healing and psychological transmutation; the women’s blood mysteries that govern birth, life and death.
Find your inner sanctuary and relax. Light a white or red candle. Find a comfortable position (sitting or lying down). Take a few deep breaths, letting go of any stress or body discomfort. You are safe and protected by your guides and angels, and only the Light may fill your presence. See yourself walking along a well-worn and familiar path leading you to the main gate of a Temple enclosure. The moon is high and full and casts a whitish glow over the temple. You can feel the energy and protection of your guides around you. It is a good feeling; you are home. A white-robed priestess awaits you inside the gate. She hands you a cone of frankincense and leads you to a large bronze door, which she slowly opens. The frankincense fills the room. As the smoke from the incense clears, you find yourself standing before a tall statue made of smooth black granite. It is the image of Sekhmet with her beautiful lion face and well-formed woman’s body. She wears the sun disc on her head as she is the daughter of the Sun God, Ra. She carries a lotus staff in one hand and holds the key of life or ankh, in the other. She stands a full head taller than you, and her eyes look down upon your face. You see your own reflection in her eyes. You are safe here, but you cannot keep any secrets from her, for she can see deeply into your heart. Spend some time communing with her. She is here to help you cut the cords that bind you to the past. She can assist in releasing old hurts and betrayals. She can devour the past and assist you in shedding outworn layers of cellular memory. Sekhmet knows the shamanic realms of magic and manifestation. Ask her for your heart’s desire; but know thyself! As you prepare to leave, Sekhmet offers you a gift. There is a small ruby heart lying at her feet; this is for you. You thank her and leave her presence. The white-robed priestess leads you back through the temple moonlight; back to your own time and space. You feel lighter and more peaceful after this journey. You are whole and in a sound state. Blessed Be!
Blessings,
Mary
