Happy Samhain and Happy Halloween! We are at yet another turning of the Wheel of the Year, when we are called on to embrace the Scorpio season, which is all about honoring the mysteries of death, transformation and and the realms of spirit. This Full Moon embodies the alchemical mixture of water (Scorpio) and earth (Taurus) signs, the astrological formula for attraction and fertility on the material plane. This is a major cosmic reminder that we are all caretakers of this beautiful planet and that our physical bodies also need a great deal of TLC at this time. In addition, if things feel like they are speeding up, indeed, they are. The planet Uranus, (the Great Awakener) is aligned with the Full Moon in the earth sign of Taurus. Get ready for the unexpected, as this month closes out with both Mercury and Mars in retrograde. On the positive side, Uranus in Taurus will bring about renewed interests in the healing gifts of Mother Earth: crystals, essential oils, shamanism, and plant medicines. For next month’s Full Moon Lunar Eclipse (November 30), I will be in Egypt. Stay tuned for that update with meditation at the Temple of Khonsu and Thoth (the Moon) from Karnak Temple.

FULL MOON IN TAURUS OCTOBER 31, 2020
This Full Moon with Uranus can certainly be characterized as wild and wacky, but there is also a sense of building something solid and dependable with the Taurus Moon. The Scorpio/Taurus polarity is about forgiveness and release as well as magnetism and attraction. What do you need to let go of in your life? What would you like to manifest? Where you find the signs of Scorpio and Taurus in your birth chart will give the clues as to where this shows up for you. For some, it can be a new income stream or creative project; for some a new focus on relationships; for others a new awareness of health and how to take care of our bodies.
This month’s Full Moon falls in the Earth sign Taurus, which is ruled by Venus and symbolized by the Archetype of the fertile Mother Goddess, the Empress in the tarot deck. Taurus rules the five perceptual senses and our connection to the physical world. If nothing else, the year 2020, has taught us just how important it is that we take our bodies and our physical health seriously. Taurus also rules the throat chakra and the voice. Words are important. Mantras, positive affirmations, music, chanting and singing all help to channel positive energy.
In ancient Egypt, the Goddess Hathor ruled over the sign of Taurus and the constellation of the Pleiades. Seven priestesses of Hathor would joyously sing the soul’s song as a new baby was birthed into life. Where do you find your joy? What would you like to build for the future? Begin by releasing stress and anxiety over things that you cannot control; then add one or two positive affirmations to your daily routine. Small changes in thinking can redirect your universe!
Where the sign Taurus falls in your natal chart, will highlight how the electrical energy of this Full Moon and Uranus will shake up your comfort zone. The Moon in Taurus is where you find your security blanket, where you feel nurtured and safe. Taureans appreciate the finer things in life and usually take great pride in what they build or create. Their artistic talents can be expressed through music, art, dance, fashion, architecture, and especially food.
Because Taureans like to feel secure, they can also be very adept with money and the world of finance, such as, investments, real estate and art. They like to feel solid ground beneath their feet, and do best when they can spend time in nature, or at least their own backyard garden. For Taureans cooking is a fine art, so indulge yourself and have some fun creating a beautiful meal, even if it is for yourself only.
If you have the Moon in Taurus, you need to be aware of over-indulging in too much of a good thing, especially comfort foods. A little chocolate goes a long way!
During this Full Moon take some time out to meditate with your favorite crystal, since Taurus favors working with all sacred stones, crystals and essential oils. Treat yourself to a relaxing massage, buy yourself a bouquet of gorgeous roses, and luxuriate in a luscious aromatherapy bath. The Law of Attraction states that when you are good to yourself, others are good to you.
Full Moon Conjunct Uranus in Taurus the Sun in Scorpio. With both the Full Moon and Uranus in Taurus in direct opposition to the Sun, we can expect the unexpected! With Uranus this heightened electrical frequency can be either lightning or enlightening; it brings break-ups or break-throughs. Remember to take care of your body as mentioned earlier. Taurus wants to remain in her comfort zone, but the Uranian shake-up is immanent. The operative word is freedom, so breaking out of an old habit or pattern may actually feel quite liberating, once the jolt is over. What starts out as anxiety may be a trigger for something new opening up in your life.
In astrology divine timing is everything, so there may be “aha” moments coming in now, which will be implemented later in mid-November, once the retrograde periods are over. Uranian changes can be exciting and stimulating, as well as nerve-wracking. We will get the opportunity over the next two weeks to reframe the old beliefs and resentments and beliefs that keep us stuck in the past. The operative issue here is that we do not get stuck in old fear issues regarding insecurity, lack, but continue to have faith in ourselves. It is important to be flexible and to forgive ourselves and others for any perceived past “wrongs”. One of the biggest lessons of Taurus is self-love (not selfishness) tempered with patience.
Mercury in Scorpio Retrograde: Mercury in Scorpio is emotionally deep, thorough and penetrating. It’s a great time for psychotherapy and going over taxes! While in retrograde (until 11/11) we have more access to subconscious information. Dreams may have more meaning; secrets are revealed, especially those having to do with sex and money. Any type of deep psychological work is recommended, even if it is your own journal work. This can be a time for being ruthlessly honest with yourself, as old emotional issues may resurface .Past life regressions are another Scorpionic treasure trove of information. Anything that deals with digging up the past is recommended; such as genealogical or historical research, archaeology, and the occult.
On a pop culture level, this is the time of spooky Halloween movies, in which the collective can exorcise its fears. In the political arena, the seemingly endless barrage of political conspiracies, scandals, and secrets will continue well past mid-November. The shadow of Mercury retrograde in Scorpio is fear. During this time, the opportunity opens up to trust yourself and go deep. Exploring your own shadow can lead to amazing psychological breakthroughs and open the flow to renew and rebalance emotionally energy that was trapped.
Mars in Aries Retrograde: Mars in Aries retrograde continues to dredge up the same themes we have been working on collectively and personally since August. Mars is squaring (making a challenging aspect) with the Capricorn Cluster of planets (Jupiter, Saturn and Pluto) for the next few months. Mars in Aries will be retrograde until November 11. For more on the Mars in Aries transits of 2020 see my previous newsletters, and astrology podcasts.
Venus in Libra opposite Chiron in Aries: Venus in the air sign of Libra is all about fairness, diplomacy, and creating win-win situations in relationships (see New Moon in Libra update October 26th), and her only aspect during this Full Moon is the opposition to Chiron, the wounded healer, asteroid. This is a time for reflecting on past relationships and releasing any wounding patterns related to abandonment, loneliness, rejection, etc. Where have we given too much or received too little in relationships? How can we bring more balance into our intimate relationships? Forgiving ourselves and others is the key that can clear the way for new relationships to blossom in the future. This aspect will prepare the way for Venus in Scorpio at the November 30 Full Moon eclipse when Venus owns her own power.
MEDITATION FOR THE TAURUS FULL MOON with EGYPTIAN GODDESS HATHOR:
You may want to prepare for this meditation with a relaxing bath or shower. Light a white candle. Find a comfortable position where your body feels at ease. Close your eyes; take a few deep breaths and relax. Concentrate on a golden ball of energy floating above you, which encircles you from the soles of your feet to the top of your head. Continue concentrating on your breath. Now, feel the golden spiral of energy spinning inside your heart chakra and filling your body from the inside out with a warm glow. As your body begins to feel lighter, you see the form of a beautiful woman standing before you. This is Hathor, the Egyptian Goddess of beauty, love and music. She wears a long, shimmering white garment graced with a blue lotus necklace made with pure turquoise and gold. In one hand, she holds a metal rattle, called the sistrum, which sound banishes negativity. In her other hand, she holds the sacred blue lotus, the symbol of immortality. On her dark hair sits the royal sun-disc crown as worn by the Queens of ancient Egypt; for she is also the Great Mother of Egypt, the primordial feminine energy from which all life is nurtured and to which all life returns. As your inner perception becomes more attuned to her radiance, you hear the soft rattle of her sistrum, and her sweet voice chanting your name very softly. As you listen to the sound of her voice blending harmoniously with the sistrum, your body begins to vibrate to a new healing frequency, resonating like a tuning fork. This is your own personal tone. You feel your heart expand; your throat open; you feel less burdened. Hathor sings her song just for you, and your body knows how to translate it. You allow these sounds to rest within your cells for as long as you need. You feel rested and replenished. As you open your eyes, you see that Hathor has left you a gift, her beautiful Blue Lotus, the flower of life.
May you walk in Truth and Beauty always.
