Welcome to “October Surprise” month! We start the month with the fiery energy of both the Full Moon and Mars in Aries, as well as Venus in Leo. In addition, Mercury moving retrograde in the sign of Scorpio will form an opposition to Uranus; expect the unexpected. Inflammatory rhetoric, scandals and conspiracies, plus the relentless fires raging in the West fill the media. However, none of this is new. We have been over and over this terrain since late June. It is time to take note of all the previous planetary lessons regarding patience, positivity, and planning, and put them to good use. Also with the personal planets Moon, Venus, and Mars all in fire signs, the archetype of the all-powerful Divine Mother is speaking her message of courage, strength and passion for all to hear. Are you listening?

FULL MOON IN ARIES: OCTOBER 1, 2020
Aries is first sign of the zodiac, the cardinal fire sign symbolizing raw energy, courage, and the will to live. It is ruled by the planet Mars, the planet of war and conquest, but Aries is also the sign of the Hero Archetype and the spiritual warrior and shaman. During every Full Moon, the sun is in the opposite sign of the Moon. The Sun is now in the sign of Libra emphasizing the need for balance and diplomacy in our relationships. Finding the balance between these two polarities (Aries/Libra) is no easy task. It is the balance between male/female; yin/yang; love/hate; war/peace; dark/light. As long as we exist in a world of duality, we will be faced with the issue of reconciling opposite extremes. The key is merging the opposites within our own psyche; recognizing our own shadow, and forgiving ourselves and others. There is no other way out of this 3 D “Matrix”.
Aries is the cardinal fire sign, the first sign of the zodiac. On the personality level, it is where we begin to individuate and strengthen our egos. If you have your Sun, Moon or Ascendant in the sign of Aries, you may feel more emotional, restless and impatient during this full moon. Try to think things through, or get a second opinion before making any hasty or rash decisions, especially if it involves partnership.
Also, where the sign of Aries falls in your birth chart denotes the area(s) of life where you are willing to take a risk, and/or, where you are feeling restless and want to make changes. The trick with Aries is to implement change without being reckless, impatient or scattered. Full Moons illuminate and fulfill the promise of the intentions made at the previous New Moon (see my September 17 New Moon in Virgo update).
Take some time to see what changes have transpired in your life since Mars moved into the sign of Aries on June 27. This Full Moon will illuminate your personal “works in progress”.
Sun in Libra opposite Moon and Chiron in Aries: This is a very tense Full Moon aspect. This aspect triggers old emotional wounding patterns, particularly in close relationships. With Chiron in such close proximity, the Moon in Aries can become impatient, frustrated and angry at perceived slights where none one were intended. Old patterns of hurt may resurface, especially if one feels that they are not being heard or seen by the partner. During this Full Moon emotions speak louder than words, so try not to over-react to what someone else is saying.
As the Moon moves through the sign of Aries over the next few days (squaring the Capricorn Cluster of planets Saturn, Pluto, and Jupiter), take a deep breath and give yourself and others some chill space. You may want to do emotional clearing work on old parental issues involving anger, abuse or abandonment. On a global level, we will see women speaking out very passionately regarding human rights and the law (Libra); as well as fighting to have their voices and opinions heard. (Aries).
Mars in Aries Retrograde Square Saturn and Pluto in Capricorn: Much has been said and written about the 2020 Capricorn hierarchy of planets (Pluto, Saturn and Jupiter) being squared by Mars. Pluto and Saturn have a certain “fated” quality about them. Sweeping tides of change cannot be ignored. It is important to know you are not a victim, but have the right to stand up for yourself and your beliefs.
Pluto brings about lasting change, but Saturn demands that we take responsibility for our actions. It may become necessary to separate from toxic people or situations that hinder your emotional growth. It is also very important to think about your body now (Saturn in Capricorn); bones, teeth and skin.
Mars in Aries can bring on headaches, fevers, rashes. All of these conditions are exacerbated by stress, which is the codename for the Mars squares. Mars square Pluto is relentless, and whatever issues have been lurking in the background get pushed to the surface. This is not a time to hide your head in the sand, but to choose your battles wisely and take precautions. Well-thought out actions achieve better results. It may take longer, but the outcome will be more satisfactory than making decisions based on anger, frustration, or desperation. Inner guidance can come from many sources: physical teachers, mentors, counselors, or through spiritual teachers. With meditation and focused intention, we can create emotional balance in our lives and relationships.
Venus in Leo Conjunct Fixed Star Regulus: Venus in Leo exhibits a very dynamic, proud, and self-confident female energy. The fixed star Regulus is the sign of the Lion King, signifying royalty and rulership. When these conjoin, a woman leader is on the horizon. This is an especially powerful Venus configuration, as it only happens once very eight years; and Venus in Leo is also trine Mars in Aries at this time adding passion, confidence and charisma to the mix. If you are a Leo Sun sign, this is your time to shine!
Mercury in Scorpio Retrograde Opposite Uranus in Taurus Retrograde: This Mercury retrograde can be more disruptive than usual since it involves the planet Uranus. It’s a game-changer. Scorpio has to do with inner and outer security, values and emotions. Taurus is about long-term stability. What do you need to change in order to keep your life stable? Are you willing to sacrifice now for a long-term benefit? Can you go with the flow, or do you automatically fall into fear mode? With this Mercury, you may have to change a plan suddenly, or come up with a new plan; but it is usually for the better. As with all retrogrades, re-doing or re-viewing something is to your advantage; and with Mercury in Scorpio that could be finances, taxes, or possessions, as well as emotional baggage. You might want to get rid of old stuff that is just clogging your closets; as well as take a personal inventory of your personal relationships. Does anything need to change? Whether it is a government, a business or a personal relationship, now is the time to review and redress old grievances.
FULL MOON MEDITATION WITH EGYPTIAN GODDESS SEKHMET: The Egyptian Lion-headed Goddess Sekmet represents the female power of Mars and Pluto. She is the powerful, warrior- like aspect of the goddess related to medicine, magic, and the women’s blood mysteries which govern birth, life and death. She gives us the courage to face life’s most difficult challenges and transform fear into action.
Find your inner sanctuary and relax. Light a white and/or red candle. Find a comfortable position (sitting or lying down). Take a few deep breaths, letting go of any stress or bodily discomfort. You are safe and protected by your guides and angels, and only the Light may now fill your presence. See yourself walking along a well-worn and familiar path leading you to the main gate of a Temple enclosure. You can see the full moon above you, and you feel the protection of your guides around you. A red-robed priestess awaits you at the gate and leads you inside the inner sanctuary of the temple. You find yourself standing before a tall statue made of smooth black granite. It is the image of Sekmet with her beautiful lion face and well-formed woman’s body. She wears the sun disc on her head; she is the daughter of the Sun God, Ra. She carries a lotus staff in one hand and holds the key of life or ankh, in the other. She is here to help you cut the cords that bind you to the past. She can assist in releasing old hurts and betrayals .She can devour the past and assist you in shedding outworn layers of cellular memory. Sekmet knows the shamanic realms of magic and manifestation. You spend some time in meditation with her and ask for her healing presence to assist you in your process. There is a small red carnelian heart lying at her feet; this is for you. You thank the Goddess and leave her sanctuary. The red-robed priestess leads you back through the moonlit temple; back to your own time and space. You feel lighter and more peaceful after this journey. You are ready for the NEW.
May you walk in Truth and Beauty Always,
