Welcome to Fall! This New Moon in Virgo is the precursor to the Autumn Equinox (September 23); when traditionally, we honor the harvest and the fruits of our labors. Throughout 2020, Mother Earth has been in turmoil, as the elements of fire, wind, water and earth continue to rage. This is a time of purification on planet Earth, as well as a time of transformational healing and renewal of life. The grounded earth energy of the Virgo New Moon will help to quell the fiery intensity of Mars in Aries as it retrogrades and squares the outer planets. Let us extend heartfelt compassion and prayers to all who have been adversely affected (humans, animals and plant life) by the unprecedented fires in the West, as well as the thousands of families who have been impacted by hurricanes, floods, tornadoes, and illness. On September 23rd, the Sun moves into zero degrees of Libra marking the Autumn Equinox in the Northern Hemisphere; the day of equal light and dark. This is a time for restoring balance, harmony and peace within ourselves, with all our relations, and with the Earth Mother herself.
Faith + Intention = Miracles!

NEW MOON IN VIRGO: SEPTEMBER 17, 2020
All New Moons are about beginnings (or planting seeds with conscious intention). The sacred task of Virgo is to restore health to mind, body and spirit. Virgo is an Earth sign; she is practical rather than a dreamer. She reminds us that our bodies are our temples. Her role is to be of service and to help others, rather than to be the prima donna. She is the director, choreographer, and set designer, rather than the star of the show. The ruler of the sign of Virgo is the planet, Mercury, which rules our thought processes, language and communication. Virgo is also the sign of healer; she calls for us to be of service on the planet, but to also be discriminating in thought, word and deed.
Translation: practice non-judgment, trust your intuition, and don’t believe everything you read or hear. Be aware of how you choose to express yourself. Words DO matter!
The sacred task of Virgo is to restore health to mind, body and spirit. As an Earth sign, Virgo has a natural affinity with nature. Virgos are usually tuned into their bodies; natural herbs, plant medicines, and alternative healing modalities work well for them. Virgos are happy in their own company, and often prefer a solitary walk in nature to a crowded event.
If you have your Sun sign, your Moon, Ascendant or Mars in Virgo, the themes of discrimination, self- analysis, and attention to detail are important for your soul’s growth and development. Since Virgo is ruled by the planet Mercury, the shadow side of Virgo manifests as mental stress and anxiety, which can turn into obsessive/compulsive thinking. Virgos can become overly critical and judgmental, which can show up as an addiction to perfection. The parts of the body most sensitive to Virgo issues are the digestion and elimination tracts of the body. (Using food as medicine is a very helpful trait for Virgos to cultivate.) Virgos like to look and feel good, so they may be involved in any profession that requires precise technical expertise and attention to detail such as analysts and designers, as well as health and fitness professionals. Designers, models, craftspeople, accountants, musicians(especially guitarists) also have Virgo prominent in their natal horoscopes.
In astrology, the asteroid Chiron, the “Wounded Healer” is also ruled by the sign of Virgo. Alternative healing, shamanism, and astrology all come under the rulership of Chiron. During this Virgo New Moon period (the next two weeks) specific areas to monitor are your diet and digestion, especially in regard to food allergies and toxins. How do you get nourished, not only in body, but mind and spirit also? Are you being of service to yourself, to others? Often, simplifying your life can eliminate chaos. “Less is more” is the motto of Virgo.
Sun and Moon in Virgo opposite Neptune in Pisces (Retrograde): This opposition allows for the refocusing or redesigning of your dream. With the help of the current Earth trine at this time (see below) achieving your vision is possible, but it may take a new twist or direction until Neptune is in direct motion once again at the end of November. This is not the time to give up your dream, but rather be flexible in terms of readjusting your timing.
Sun and Moon in Virgo Trine Saturn and Pluto in Capricorn: This is a very balanced energy from which to make grounded and focused decisions. You have more clarity now. This is a good time for laying the solid groundwork for future endeavors, especially pertaining to work, health and business situations. The Virgo lunation is about attention to details and daily organization, while Saturn and Pluto (the current CEO’s of the zodiac) add determination and resolve to the mix.
Mars in Aries Retrograde (until November 13th) and Square Saturn and Pluto in Capricorn): Much has been said about these very dynamic and challenging aspects of Mars.(See my podcast and The Mars Code links above) . This is a total “reset” for the second half of 2020. These Mars transits are not about immediate gratification, but patience for long-term goals. The new foundation of a new reality will be built upon the ashes of the old. Like Lot’s wife in the Bible story, there is no going backwards; however, learning from the past is essential for creating the new.
Venus in Leo Square Uranus in Taurus: Venus in Leo wants to shine and try new things; there is a bit of restlessness with the Uranus square; however, not everything may turn out as planned. Be prepared for a few surprises until Venus moves into Virgo on October 2nd.
HISTORICALLY SPEAKING: The Virgo New Moon is associated with Isis, the Great Mother Goddess of Egypt, and her home is the star Sirius. (Some say that the original face of the sphinx was carved in the image of Isis during the Age of Virgo). This was the age of the matrilineal agrarian societies when the feminine face of the goddess was revered and worshipped. Isis was the goddess who taught her people the right use of magic, the healing arts and importance of words of power. She was regarded as the compassionate Mother of wisdom and miracles.
MEDITATION WITH THE GODDESS ISIS:
A New Moon meditation is the best time to set your intentions and create new possibilities for yourself (you may choose to do this alone or with a group). (You may prefer to do this meditation after a relaxing bath, or being in nature, or a quiet place in your home. Light a white candle, get into a comfortable position, and allow any thoughts that may be “heavy” or toxic to leave your body. If you have a favorite essential oil, anoint your third eye at this time. Lapis is the gemstone associated with Isis, so if you have a lapis piece, you may use this also. Visualize a blue lotus extending its stem from your crown to the blue/white star group, Sirius, the home of Isis. As you connect this energetic star cord, the Goddess Isis appears before you wearing a white linen gown and a blue cloak trimmed with gold. Her forehead is encircled with a band of gold and a 5-pointed star of lapis lazuli sits over her third eye. Her gaze is deep, but loving. She communicates with you telepathically. She asks that you to meditate on all that you are thankful for in your life right now, and then asks that you to visualize all that you wish to create or manifest over the next 2 weeks. (You can also write this down in your journal or diary). Then, she asks that you project yourself into the future and write down how you “see” yourself in the next 6 months. What would you like to manifest? You can meditate on this for a few minutes. Isis then leads you into her temple, a vast crystalline hall bathed in Light. The star Sirius is beaming down through the top of the temple which is open to the night sky. The light of the Star Sirius blends with the soft moon light and shines into the temple entering your Crown chakra. Feel this diamond white light, like an “elixir” of light, bathe your crown chakra and Allow this crystalline liquid to bathe your mid-brain and pass through your entire body. Immerse yourself in liquid light. Breathe it in. Allow a few minutes to float in this womb of Light. You are energizing your intentions to be birthed in the future. Slowly, breathe and come back into your body when you are ready. You are ready to create your miracles!
May you walk in Truth and Beauty always.
