Summer 2020 has certainly been a momentous time of signs and wonders in the heavens with three eclipses, Comet Neowise, and now, five planets all visible to the naked eye; all telling a cosmic story of change and evolution. Currently, the personal planets( Mercury, Venus & Mars) are now direct, and the outer planets (Jupiter,Saturn, Neptune and Pluto) are in retrograde motion. So, what does that mean exactly? In short, the personal planets are saying “all systems go”, but the outer heavy-weight planets are still in a holding pattern. The BIG collective out breath is not yet ready until the end of this year. If you feel like you just need a time out, take it, and nurture yourself. However, you may also use this “in-between” time to redirect and focus your intention on what you really want to create and manifest for yourself. If you can take the time out to meditate and visualize (not just worry and agonize) on what you would like to intend for the future, miracles are indeed possible now. Use this time wisely; it will never come this way again!

CANCER NEW MOON JULY 20, 2020 :
This New Moon at 28 degrees Cancer is a continuation of the Cancer/Capricorn theme of the June 21st New Moon Solar Eclipse, which occurred at zero degrees Cancer. The last degrees of any astrological sign signify that a graduation is necessary before moving on. We have been working with the major themes of Cancer/Capricorn throughout 2020; issues of safety, security, emotional and physical needs. Cancer is the quintessential lunar/water sign, and the Cancer New Moon is exactly opposite Saturn in Capricorn, the quintessential earth sign. This polarity in earth and water signs indicates that we must correct the imbalance of male/female energy on planet earth. Great emotional tidal waves of disruption are now causing imbalances in the earth’s energy grid. This Earth and water combination can be the formula for new growth (fertility) or destructive weather changes. Respecting the Earth, ourselves, and all living beings as One, is the prerequisite for survival now. The incredible amount of planetary activity this summer indicates that we are moving into a new paradigm here on Earth; the old no longer works!
Cancer is the sign which rules our feelings, memories, our connection to mother and family, our roots, as well as our connection to the Divine Feminine. Cancer is the nurturing principle in our lives; and regardless of gender, we all have emotions, feelings and needs. Esoteric astrology teaches that it is in the sign of Cancer that we emerge from the safety and security of the cosmic womb and give birth to ourselves as the Divine Child. All New Moons signify “new beginnings” and since the last three eclipses, you may feel that you are being pushed out of a long-standing comfort zone, but this change is for your growth and development and cannot be avoided. Right now, the pull from all the Capricorn planets in opposition to Cancer is causing intense labor pains; but, as we all know in this reality, birthing is a process. Religion, race, gender…no one is exempt from evolution. Be gentle with yourself; be compassionate with others; this is the formula for midwifing humanity into the new age.
Cancer is the feminine water sign, the “womb of life”, which rules motherhood, family karma, inherited psychological patterns, as well as, intuitive abilities. It is also the sign of the Inner Child. How have you been treating yourself emotionally? Do you deny that you have any emotional needs at all? Are you afraid of being vulnerable? Are you too needy or too co-dependent in relationships?
Cancerians have an intense need for security; they tend to either wear their emotions on their sleeves or insulate themselves with material comforts as a defense against feeling too much.We all have heard that Cancerians love to nurture (whether male or female), and are natural empaths, sensitive to the feelings of others. This is because Moon Children are ruled by the subtle currents of the subconscious and make excellent psychics, teachers, artists and writers, as well as psychologists. They also love history and antiques, and decorating comes naturally to them.
Psychologically, where the sign Cancer falls in your birth chart (by house placement) is where you are being asked to clear away past emotional clutter, and accept your “Divine (Inner) Child” aspect. Since this New Moon falls in the final degrees of Cancer (and three eclipses), it is a new beginning, as well as a closure, on an entire cycle of emotional patterning. You may find yourself removing old clutter, dysfunctional relationships, and toxic situations from your life now. It is important to also give yourself some quiet time now to reflect on what is important in your life; what you are thankful for; and what you would like to change in the coming weeks.
New Moons are about planting seeds for the future. The sign of Cancer is about home, family and heart…those are good places to start!
Sun and Moon in Cancer Opposite Saturn/Jupiter/Pluto in Capricorn: This is a very intense configuration, as the soft, lunar Cancerian energy does not thrive well in Capricorn’s harsh testing ground of reality. Have patience and allow yourself some breathing space. Saturn and Jupiter are the “titans” of the zodiac, and their energy can be pretty immoveable. Direct confrontation may result in a big headache right now. Better to wait a few days until the Moon moves into the more compatible earth sign,Virgo, to make your moves. Saturn demands patience and determination (no short-cuts or loose ends); and Jupiter and Pluto working together can uncover hidden jewels. So, this can be a great time for research and getting to the bottom of things. It may just take some extra time; but don’t give up!
Mars in Aries Conjunct Chiron in Aries: The asteroid, Chiron, is called the wounded healer in astrology and brings up old issues (from either past lives or present) often, in a rather painful way, so that we may move on and release that karma. In the sign of Aries (and especially with Mars) this wounding can be about war, abuse, violence, anger, etc. On a personal level, the healing comes through releasing and forgiving hurt and anger from the past and moving forward. On the most positive level, Mars in Aries is the sacred warrior, healer, shaman and protector of the weak. How can we embody this new archetype of male energy in our lives? Whether we identify as male or female, the outworn stereotypes of male patriarchy and abuse are no longer functional. This aspect is going to be with us for awhile; humanity will have many opportunities to work on this theme.
Neptune in Pisces Sextile Jupiter and Pluto in Capricorn: This is a very positive aspect directing you to breathe new life into your dreams! This may take a bit of tweaking due to all the current retrograde activity, but both Jupiter and Pluto in Capricorn offer the staying power and incentive to keep going. Don’t give up; your spirit guides are listening! Also, Pisces adds a bit more compassion to Capricorn’s authoritarian stance, so there may be more government help on the way to those in financial need.
Venus in Gemini Sextile Mars in Aries: The planet Venus is our relationship barometer. She measures our likes and dislikes; how we give and receive love; as well as our ability to be in fulfilling relationships. She’s an avid communicator, curious about life, and since she is just coming out of her retrograde phase, she is ready for something new with all the post-eclipse energy coming in. Wherever the “makeover” occurs in your life, Mars in Aries will add a bit more spice to the mix.
In the ancient Egyptian temple calendar, July 17 was celebrated as the birthday of the Goddess Isis and July 18th was celebrated as the birthday of her twin, the Goddess Nephthys. In ancient Egyptian mythology, Nephthys was born amid a shroud of mystery with a caul cast over her face, like the moon hidden during the light of day. In ancient Egyptian myth, it is only as a duo that the two Sisters, Isis and Nephthys, reunite, reconstitute, and resurrect the body of their murdered brother, Osiris. Both goddesses wield powerful magic, and one of the names of Nephthys was “Urt-Hekau, Mighty One of Words of Power”.
Nephthys’ greatest role was as the companion and reflection of her sister Isis. She is also the Goddess who gives the power to see “that which is hidden by moonlight.” Eventually Nephthys came to be known as the Goddess whose domain was the magical, mysterious, dark side of the moon. She was responsible for bringing healing dreams and comforted those who suffered. This New Moon in Cancer is a time to honor both the light and dark aspects within you. Look to your dreams tonight. Nephthys is most willing to bring you the messages which you seek.
