Happy July 4th and Happy Full Moon! This Full Moon is also a partial lunar eclipse at 13 degrees Capricorn. It will be visible in the southeastern US, and parts of South America will fall under its shadow. This is a continuation of the themes which erupted with the New Moon total solar eclipse of July 21st. Eclipses affect our weather patterns, as well as the electromagnetic grid of the planet. It is very important to remember that your physical body needs to stay grounded during these intense cosmic wave patterns. We cannot complete our spiritual work unless our bodies can handle the immense influx of energies pouring into this planet. Honoring our bodies as Temples of Light is part of the program now. Neither can our human bodies thrive without feeling emotionally fulfilled. Take a time out to “moon gaze” this weekend; recharging your psychic batteries goes a long way in improving overall health and longevity. Gemstones, crystals and healing herbs all work well with the Capricorn moon’s grounding energy. Humans are the caretakers of Mother Earth’s precious gifts, and we start by caring for our own bodies!

FULL MOON LUNAR ECLIPSE IN CAPRICORN JULY 4/5, 2020:
All Full Moons are about illumination; bringing forth into consciousness what has been nurtured in the unconscious. When the Moon falls in the Earth sign of Capricorn it signifies our connection to Mother Earth, our traditions, our ancestral lineage, and family roots (for better or worse). During this Full Moon, the Sun is in the opposite sign of Cancer. This polarity signifies the archetypal Mother/Father, male/female axis in astrology. The theme of power vs. compassion takes on archetypal proportions. We see this playing out right now in the news (USA is a Cancerian country born on the 4th of July) with the emotionally charged scenarios constellating around “Black Lives Matter”; and the politicizing of covid-19. We are a country of immigrants who settled in lands belonging to indigenous people. The shadow of conquest and slavery haunts the national psyche. History often repeats itself, if we do not learn from the past.
July 4th is a partial lunar eclipse in the sign of Capricorn, which brings up deeply buried subconscious memories and feelings, which can overwhelm and flood the psyche resulting in compulsive behaviors and power struggles. If you have Capricorn Sun, Moon or Ascendant, this is a very important Full Moon for you. You may be in the process of an emotional “overhaul”. Letting go of the old memories and long held belief systems that no longer serve you will actually help to clarify your and goals now.
Look to nineteen years ago (2001) for a closure or completion in one major area of life. Capricorn grounds us in physicality; it allows us to build a solid foundation for the future. During a lunar eclipse interactions with important women in your life may be particularly intense. Capricorn has to do with father figures, political and religious authorities and the patriarchy, in general. How far will they go to push our fear buttons? Capricorn is all about boundaries, setting limits, control issues.
Capricorn builds slowly over time. What needs to be eliminated totally in our lives for the new rebuilding to occur? What is worth saving from the past nineteen year cycle; what needs to be released? The entire planet is processing lessons learned under the Saturn/Pluto Capricorn conjunction of 2020. (See my New Moon in Cancer 6/21/2020 Update). You are now preparing to create a world from the ashes of the old. The key words are: self-responsibility, leadership, and compassion.
JUPITER CONJUNCT PLUTO IN CAPRICORN: The Conjunction of Jupiter and Pluto happens every twenty years. In the sign of Capricorn, we are dealing with themes regarding power, politics, leadership and authority. This exact conjunction at 23 degrees Capricorn occurs on June 30th. Themes of power, leadership, and authority come up. On a personal level, where do you need to become more in control of your own life? Take back your personal power?
MERCURY IN CANCER RETROGRADE SQUARE MARS IN ARIES: Mercury retrograde urges restraint. Recheck your intel. Watch your words. In the sign of Cancer, you may feel particularly sentimental and overly emotional, longing for old times, old loves, and old friends. It is a good time to resolve any old issues with family and friends; but because Mercury also makes a challenging square with Mars, be aware that people can be hyper-sensitive to words right now; tempers may flare. Mars has a tendency to inflame whatever it touches, so try not to let others push your buttons. Mercury will move into Leo in mid-August and be in a more positive position with Mars.
MOON IN CAPRICORN TRINE URANUS IN TAURUS: Eclipses can be wildcards! This positive aspect can bring some unexpected, but pleasant surprises, especially in the areas of material security and finances. As with all trines, it is important to remain open to new possibilities and keep a positive outlook.
SUN CONJUNCT VESTA IN CANCER: Vesta is the Goddess asteroid in astrology who tends the sacred temple flame. In the sign of Cancer, she is the protectress of home and family. This Full Moon will bring up the themes of personal security and protection of home and family involving issues such as food, housing insurance. The Statue of Liberty holding up her torch of liberty (New York City is a Cancerian city) is an apt symbol for Vesta in Cancer.
Historically, in ancient Egypt, the goddess Nut was the sky goddess, the Great cosmic Mother. Creatrix of all matter and Mother of the Gods, she birthed the Milky Way from her womb. In hieroglyphs, her symbol is the sacred war jar, the grail. She was depicted in every temple and every tomb, as all blessings flowed from her. She was especially prominent at the Temple of Dendera, which was associated with Hathor, Isis, and the star Sirius, during the celebration of Egyptian New Year in July. She is associated with the life-giving waters of the Nile and the Milky Way. “As above, so below”; she gives us hope for the future, like the Star in the tarot deck. She is our Sky Mother, who connects us to the stars, but also gives life to all living beings on Earth.
FULL MOON MEDITATION WITH GODDESS NUT:
Find a quiet space to meditate, light a white candle; or, if you like, you may do this under the light of the full moon. Breathe deeply and feel yourself connecting from the core of the planet to the heart of the Milky Way. As you do this, you feel a blue-white shaft of light beam from the center of the galaxy into your third eye igniting your “inner fire” and inspiration. This is your connection with the Sky Goddess Nut. This blue-white beams turns into a beautiful blue lotus and opens in your heart center. You are one with the Goddess Nut. Now, imagine your body as a chalice or grail holding this new frequency, and ask Goddess Nut to assist you in manifesting your spiritual vision and life’s purpose. This may be a new vision, or one you have been holding on to for many years or lifetimes until this present moment unfolds. If you are not clear on what your purpose is right now, it is fine…it will come to you now that you have connected with the cosmic Mother Nut. Pay attention to your dreams and meditations for answers. Use the energy of this full moon eclipse to help you redefine your “mission statement” for the future; and to aid you in releasing what no longer serves your higher purpose. You are birthing your inner Divine Child. May you walk in peace and beauty always.
