This is a very busy New Moon time astrologically packed full of retrogrades (with Pluto, Saturn, Jupiter and Venus), as well as a heavy dose of Gemini planets (Sun, Moon, Mercury, Venus, plus Vesta and the North Node). Gemini is an intellectual air sign; it opens the way for new ideas in social media, the educational system; travel and commerce; however, the current Mercury/Neptune square can also create major confusion. As society moves forward and opens up once again, it is important to remember not to scatter your energy. This is a time to be flexible, as well as focused. Stay well!

NEW MOON IN GEMINI MAY 22, 2020:
The New Moon THIS MONTH falls in the sign of Gemini, the quintessential Air sign, the mental communicator par excellence of the zodiac. The sign Gemini is ruled by the planet, Mercury, the Messenger of the gods. The lesson with this New Moon is that we are not just ruled by our emotions, but Mind and Heart need to work as one. It is the ability to think and communicate (whether written, spoken or telepathically) which allows all humans to learn, disseminate knowledge, and evolve to new awareness.
Astrologically, Gemini is represented by the symbol of the Twins, which we can decode as the left and right brain; logic and intuition working together. Words ARE powerful. They can create new worlds or destroy them. Negative rhetoric, propaganda, and media spins can have a brain-washing effect, if we are not discerning individuals. Toxic thought forms bombard us constantly. The ceaseless streaming of TV news, talk-radio, and social media chatter can pollute our brain waves. The more we learn to turn off this mental interference, the more we are able to tune into our own inner guidance.
Try meditation or yoga; practice positive affirmations and healing mantras; walk in nature; and above all BREATHE (Gemini rules the lungs). Scientists have measured that the more we think a particular thought, the deeper the pathway in the brain becomes. Repeating mantras and positive affirmations for health and healing now have a sound basis in scientific fact. As the world we know (or knew it ), morphs into something entirely new, it is important to realize that we are the creators of our reality… inner space, outer space, and cyberspace…we are pushing boundaries in all directions!
During this New Moon time, our thoughts, our beliefs and especially, our words are “resonance messengers” transmitting vital information to our brains, our cells, and our world at large. “As a man thinks, so he is.”
Wherever the sign of Gemini falls in your chart (by house position) will be activated by this New Moon. Gemini symbolizes how you perceive the universe, and then converts it into your “knowingness”. It is also the area of your chart, where you like to play; have fun and be social. For example, if you have Gemini in the 5th house, you may have a fully developed creative skill or hobby (writing, music, art, performing, dance, sports, etc.); your creative efforts are like your “children”; or you may actually be in a profession doing work that involves children.
Gemini in the 11th house loves to join groups, organizations or social media groups. The part of the body ruled by Gemini is the arms, hands and respiratory system (lungs).
Breathing problems, allergies, nervous disorders, and restless anxiety are all Gemini related issues. During this New Moon, Geminis, in particular, may feel like they are on “overwhelm”, so try to spend a few hours “unplugged” from your electronic devices and go out into nature wherever possible. Remember, oxygen feeds your brain. If you are feeling anxious with too much going on (or too little), get a notebook or journal and jot down your thoughts and ideas the old-fashioned way. The physical act of writing is an amazingly healing experience and one of the best paths to self-discovery.
Pluto Retrograde Conjunct Jupiter Retrograde in Capricorn
Retrogrades, in general, signify re-thinking, re-doing, re-evaluating something; you get an opportunity to make better choices the second time around, or at least have the valuable experience of a lesson previously learned.
Both of these planets in Capricorn have to do with the BIG PICTURE: power, government and the law (see Full Moon in Scorpio Update 5/7/2020).
Pluto in Capricorn will continue to basically annihilate the status quo, as Jupiter comes to the rescue (for better or worse) to legislate more laws and make new rules. We see this played out in the second stimulus package quandary going on right now in Congress. Jupiter and Pluto together love to play out spy games and conspiracy theories. Watch for much more to come up. We have the remainder of the year, until mid-December and the aftermath of the presidential election, to get things back on track when both Jupiter and Saturn both move into the sign of Aquarius leaving Pluto behind in Capricorn. Hopefully, by then, we will have learned the lesson that freedom is not to be taken for granted. These are transpersonal planets, but on an individual level, the theme is self-responsibility.
Saturn Retrograde in Aquarius
Once again this theme is freedom and/or the restriction of it. This is a good time to re-asses your LONG term goals, financial planning, personal and professional responsibilities, especially when the retrograde moves BACK into the Capricorn degrees July 3 to December 18. How are we coping with limitation and the re-structuring of our way of life? Saturn is the “ring pass not” of the zodiac. We cannot graduate into the Age of Aquarius until we pass Saturn’s tests in Capricorn. Where Saturn falls in the Capricorn/Aquarius houses of your birth chart will delineate your testing cycle. I will be writing more on this when Saturn moves back to Aquarius in December.
Mercury Conjunct Venus Retrograde in Gemini Square Neptune
Thoughts can be confusing right now. We may feel pulled in too many directions; too many scattered ideas, and no time to carry them out. As business and social activities return to the new normal, think twice before acting on impulse. Also, as with any square involving Mercury and Neptune, don’t believe everything that you hear. Fact-checking is important!
In ancient Egypt, the god Thoth was the god of wisdom, medicine, writing and all esoteric knowledge. The Greeks knew him as Hermes, and the Romans as Mercury. In Egypt, he is depicted as a tall man with the head of an ibis bird holding a long reed pen (stylus) and scribe’s palette. He was considered the Master of Magic and Alchemy, and the author of the “Emerald Tablets”.
During this New Moon, you may want to call on Thoth as a Guide to help you access your inner wisdom and your healing words of power.
