May is the month of Love dedicated to the Divine Feminine as represented by Venus, Hathor, Mother Mary, and all of the bountiful female Goddesses who bring love and create beauty in our lives. We have all been feeling the intense burdens of the last few months, so, this is the perfect time to open our hearts to love as we celebrate ALL Mothers and give thanks for life. As of this writing today (May 5th), the Moon’s Nodes shift into the signs of Gemini and Sagittarius, a cosmic breath of fresh air after the heaviness of the past few months. Hopefully, we can feel lighter and more optimistic about new ideas for social “repositioning”. This Full Moon is also known as the Wesak Full Moon, when the compassionate love and blessings of the Buddha are showered upon all Humanity. Feel your heart opening to receive!

FULL MOON IN SCORPIO: MAY 7, 2020
The year 2020 will go down in history as an evolutionary crossroads for humanity, and the astrology for this year tells the story. We began in January with a total lunar eclipse and the Pluto/Saturn conjunction that inaugurated an “almost” presidential impeachment along with the onslaught of a global pandemic. This month begins the procession of six planetary retrogrades that will continue from May until November of this year. Pluto is currently retrograde until October 4th. Saturn, Venus and Jupiter will all move into retrograde next week: May 10, 12 and 14, respectively. (I will be sharing more on these in upcoming updates and podcast.) Retrograde planets tend to refocus our attention on past issues. Humanity’s karmic lessons and themes will continue until we pass the test! On a personal level, working with the energies of each upcoming New and Full Moon as indicated by sign and placement in your birth chart, will give guidance as to where your opportunities for growth and transformation will occur amidst the larger picture.
This month, the Full Moon is in Scorpio, the fixed water sign ruled by both Mars and Pluto. These two fixed signs (Sun in Taurus and Moon in Scorpio) also signify the need to break down long -held emotional, psychological and physical patterns wherever a system is stuck. The “shadow” side of the fixed signs is that they can become possessive and obsessive. We see this with people who hoard material possessions out of fear, as well as with institutions and governments who blame and scapegoat each other. NOW is the time to let go, forgive, and move on to create something new. Nothing in this universe remains stagnant for very long. Change and growth is inevitable.
Every Full Moon illuminates the positive qualities of the sign, as well as its shadow expressions. The Taurus/ Scorpio combination is Earth and Water. These are the fixed signs of fertility and sensuality; but they can also become prone to emotional insecurity, as well as physical excess. It is extremely important during this time to remain neutral and to walk the Middle Path wherever this combination is found in your chart. In Taurus/ Scorpio we are dealing with TRUST issues and the basic building blocks of the human condition: LOVE and SECURITY. The seven deadly sins all revolve around Taurus/Scorpio axis.
Scorpio rules the “hidden” side of life – what is behind the veil, taboo, secret and occult. Scorpio is known as the “sexy” sign, but that translates as inner magnetism, which can attract or repel at will. We all have an inner Magician, Priestess, Shaman, Psychic Detective, Dark Goddess, and Psychologist indicated by the house where the sign of Scorpio falls in the birth chart. With awareness, these archetypes can be used constructively for our own healing and transformation.
Scorpio is the only of the zodiac, which has three levels: the Scorpion, the Eagle, and the Phoenix, denoting its inherent potential for total transformation. Like a snake shedding its old skin, Scorpio has the capacity to die to the old self/ego and be reborn. The positive side of Scorpio teaches compassion and forgiveness for ourselves and others; the right use of power, loyalty, and self-discipline. We learn that true intimacy is not based on control or possessiveness, but on the desire for oneness, compassion and truth.
The shadow side of Scorpio is abuse of power, secrecy, judgment, emotional repression, obsession, control, revenge ,and manipulation. Recognizing and owning your Shadow, rather than projecting onto others, becomes a necessity if you have major Scorpio planets in your chart, especially the Moon (since the Moon rules the subconscious). Working with dreams, shamanic counseling, and other forms of psychotherapy are all excellent ways of bringing the Shadow into awareness.
Scorpio is the water sign also associated with our second chakra: creation and sexuality. The parts of the body ruled by Scorpio are the sex organs and the reproductive and elimination systems. Psychological and emotional blockages commonly show up as physical problems in these areas of the body. Yoga, martial arts, body work and massage, especially lymphatic massage, can be extremely helpful in moving blocked energy. Psychotherapy and astrological counseling, rebirthing techniques, and past life regression work help us move through the emotional fears that keep us “stuck”.
During this Wesak Full Moon, take some time out for yourself to reconnect with your spiritual source whatever that might be. Turn off the news and go outside (observing all health protocols, of course). Re-establish your connection with nature…walk…plant a garden…work with your crystals…meditate near the water, if you can. Since Scorpio rules the deep waters of the subconscious, this full moon is a great time to indulge in some quiet reflection on your own: watch your dreams for messages; begin a spiritual journal, meditate, and honor your inner world. Just spending a few minutes “moon-gazing” is a wonderful way to recharge your psychic batteries. Watch your dreams for intuitive messages.
But above all, honor all precious life on this planet. The way to reestablishing balance on this planet is to realize the interconnectedness of all living things. It is never too late!
Moon in Scorpio Trine Neptune in Pisces:
The watery signs Scorpio and Pisces rule over saints and sinners, artists and mystics alike. This aspect can be especially sensitive and emotional; however it is an optimal time for introspection, dreams, and meditation. Listen to your “muse”. Scorpio feelings run deep, and Neptune in its own sign is all about compassion, empathy, and psychic awareness. This can be a very healing time, if we open our hearts and minds. Feel compassion for your fellow human beings. It doesn’t take much effort to be of service; offer prayers, mantras and positive thoughts to those who are in need. If you live near water, this is a perfect time to spend in quiet reflection and basking in the magical light of the moon. Meditation is the best medicine!
Sun and Mercury Conjunct in Taurus Trine Pluto in Capricorn:
This Sun and Mercury combination in Taurus brings up issues regarding finances and material security, and both planets also form a positive aspect with Pluto. We now feel ready to experience a sense of firmer ground beneath our feet after a period of chaos and uncertainty. The stability of having more money, jobs, and economic security override emotional panic. There is a sense of organization and stability, even in this time of severe crisis. The government’s bail-out measures (Pluto and Saturn in Capricorn), in the form of economic stimulus plans, etc. may provide some immediate relief. Both Taurus and Capricorn are grounded earth signs, although Taurus likes immediate gratification and Capricorn tends to conserve. Because of the previously mentioned retrograde planets, the stock market may make some challenging twists and turns over the upcoming months. It will be interesting to see which course the collective chooses to follow as the planetary retrograde dance continues.
Jupiter and Pluto Conjunct in Capricorn:
This aspect signifies the power-packed combination of motivation and persistence to achieve major goals. Jupiter and Pluto together signify big plans, big organizations, and big government. Major questions regarding power and leadership will continue until Jupiter changes signs in December 2020, and this time period includes the November U.S. presidential election. On a personal level, it is important to remain grounded and focused while emotional dramas (especially those of a political and economic nature) swirl around us.
In ancient Egypt, the Goddess Bastet (or Bast) was shown as a slim, lithe cat- faced woman holding a musical instrument known as the sistrum. The sistrum was a ritual musical instrument, a metallic rattle, which was used by the priestesses of Isis, Hathor and Bastet during temple ceremonies associated with music, dancing and feasting. Bastet was much beloved by the common people, as she bestowed love, abundance and fertility to their homes and families. Whether you are male or female, you can call on her feline energy during this Full Moon to bring more joy and creativity into your life, especially on the physical level. Goddess Bastet is often depicted, much like her fellow Goddess Hathor, as the more gentle expression of Sekhmet, her fierce, leonine sister.
FULL MOON MEDITATION WITH GODDESS BASTET:
You may put on your favorite music and anoint yourself with an essential oil or perfume. Bastet favors rose, neroli, and amber. Use a white or red candle and some colorful scarves to decorate your altar. If you have favorite crystals, stones or shamanic tools, use them. Call on your spirit guides, angels, and/or power animals to protect you in your sacred space. Relax your body and find a comfortable sitting or reclining position. You may even feel like dancing or moving about…..whatever feels most comfortable for you. Just Remember to BREATHE deeply allowing all stress to leave your mind and body as you prepare to meet the Goddess Bastet.
Now, as you continue your breathing, you can visualize the Goddess Bastet standing before you. She has the body of a tall, limber woman wearing a red ankle length dress and her face has beautiful cat-like features with long dark hair and soft green eyes. You hear a soothing rhythmic sound as she approaches you; for she is shaking the sacred sistrum to quiet your heartbeat and soothe your mind. You can feel the energy of tiny effervescent joy bubbles moving through you. This is really your own kundalini energy moving up your spine and opening your chakras, and you feel a warm pulsing energy of liquid light moving up from the soles of your feet to your crown center at the top of your head. It feels like you are wearing a beautiful crown of light. You feel your heart chakra expand with light and joy and love. This is a very good feeling. You can still hear the rhythmic sound of the sistrum in the background. If you feel like moving your body, dancing, drumming, or using your own sistrum or rattle, please do so. Enjoy this sensation in your body for as long as you like…..
Now, you hear Bastet’s soft musical voice instruct you to open your heart to love. This is a time to let go and heal old emotional wounds by forgiving yourself and others. You are here now to awaken your inner creativity and passion, and to see yourself in healthy, loving relationships. Bastet asks you to visualize yourself as healthy and happy in your life. What does that picture look like? Anything that comes to your mind is correct. If nothing comes to you now, don’t worry. You may receive a picture, message or feeling in a dream or meditation at a later time. If you have been working on a stalled project, Bastet says that now is the time to awaken the fire of inspiration within you. Have fun with it! She says that this picture is now firmly imprinted in your subconscious, and she will be working with you to keep the joy bubbles moving in your life! Now, the rhythmic sounds of the sistrum begin to fade farther and farther away as your begin to slowly come back into this time and space.
May You Walk in Truth and Beauty Always,
