FULL MOON IN VIRGO MARCH 9, 2020:
This Virgo Full Moon is a brilliant Super Moon, which means it will look fuller and larger than normal. All Full Moons illustrate the themes of the opposite signs involved. During this Full Moon, we are balancing the Virgo/ Pisces polarity. Virgo is all about discrimination and discovering beauty in the details; while Pisces is about following our spiritual and artistic impulses. Virgo stresses the need for order, purity, and symmetry; while Pisces is often adrift in a sea of dreams. How do we stay grounded in 3D reality without losing our hopes and dreams? Virgo is an Earth sign; she is practical rather than a dreamer. Her role is to be of service and to help others through her mental acuity, rather than to be the prima donna. She is the director, choreographer, and set designer, rather than the star of the show. The Virgo/Pisces polarity brings up the important theme of compassionate discernment. When is it more beneficial to surrender our personal ego to a higher power; and when is it more appropriate to stand our ground and use mind over matter to change things? If boundaries are your issue (either too porous or too rigid), notice how these issues play out in your personal life, as well as, in the collective reality.
If “Necessity is the Mother of Invention”; then Virgo is its Goddess Mother! The ruler of the sign of Virgo is the planet, Mercury, which rules our thought processes, language and communication. Virgo is also the sign of healers; she calls for us to be of service on the planet and to also be discriminating in thought, word and deed. Translation: practice non-judgment, trust your intuition, and don’t believe everything you read or hear. Be aware of how you choose to express yourself. Words do matter! The world we create is a product of our thinking.
If your Sun, Moon or Ascendant (Rising Sign) falls in the sign of Virgo, this is your personal Full Moon! If Virgo is your sun sign, or you have major planets in the sign, the themes of discrimination, self- analysis, and attention to detail are important for your growth and development. You need to avoid obsessive/compulsive thinking, or the feeling of being addicted to perfection. Areas to monitor are your diet and digestion (since Virgo rules the intestines), especially in regard to food allergies. Virgos like to look and feel good, so they may be involved in the fashion industry, as well as health and fitness professions. Designers, models, craftspeople, accountants, musicians (especially guitarists) have Virgo prominent in their birth horoscopes.
The lesson with Virgo is to be consciously aware of negative thinking patterns. Old hurts can unconsciously lead to self- sabotage. If you find yourself being too judgmental of self and others, try using positive affirmations to break the habit. Often a simple dose of fresh air and exercise in nature help to free the mind from mental clutter.
At this time both the Sun and Neptune are in the watery sign of Pisces opposite the Full Moon in Virgo. This can be a very disorienting configuration. The sign of the two fishes swimming in opposite directions aptly illustrates the Piscean wish to escape the confines of ordinary reality. The lure of the subconscious becomes very seductive.
Although Virgo is a very down-to –earth Moon sign, and Mercury is, once again, moving direct in the sign of Aquarius, we may still find it is difficult to concentrate on mundane tasks with all of the Neptunian energy around. This is the perfect time for a relaxing aromatherapy massage, beach walk, or candlelight dinner… any experience where you can just let your mind unwind. Piscean planets inspire our “inner muse”, while the solidly capable Virgo Moon reinforces the need for practical action. This may be the time to dust off a creative project that has been sitting on the shelf, and/or the perfect time to clean up the clutter on your desk or work space. Some effective techniques for re-activating your creative spark are active imagination, meditation, journey work, hypnosis, journal writing, and dream analysis. Find a deck of inspirational cards that speaks to you and see what messages come. Have some fun with it. During this Full Moon you may be much more in tune with your inner “psychic” than you know.
Mercury Stationary Direct in Aquarius: With this Full Moon, the planet Mercury finally moves out of retrograde (since February 16th) in the sign of Aquarius. Aquarius is the fixed air sign, which rules science, telecommunications, electronics, computer and video technology; and interestingly enough, astrology and all things considered New Age. Now is the time to buy that new smart phone or laptop that you have been waiting for, take an online class, or get more involved in an uplifting group activity, like yoga or reiki.
Full Moon in Virgo Trine Mars, Jupiter and Pluto in Capricorn: This is a very positive aspect for taking practical action, especially with Mars and Jupiter in the picture. There is a sprinkling of “bona Fortuna” to be had, if we are pro-active, open to new opportunities, and not afraid of our own shadow (Pluto). Breaking out of old physical habits can have some amazing results right now. New solutions for manifesting your goals are possible when Jupiter aligns with Mars. Take note that when Saturn moves into Aquarius (ever so briefly) on March 20th just after the Spring Equinox, we get a quick glimpse into the Age of Aquarius. This comes as an astrological breath of fresh air after the intensity of the recent Saturn/Pluto conjunction in Capricorn. Look for your personal window of opportunity in the Capricorn/ Aquarius houses of your birth chart.
This Full Moon is potent with healing, if we use the energy with full awareness. The Virgo Full Moon is associated with Isis, the Great Mother Goddess of Egypt (some say that the original face of the sphinx was carved in the image of Isis during the Age of Virgo). This was the age of the matrilineal, agrarian societies, when the feminine face of the goddess was revered and worshipped. Isis was the goddess who taught her people the right use of magic, the healing arts and importance of “words of power”. Healing chants, drumming and sacred dance were all part of the rituals that were used in the healing temples of Isis to insure health to mind, body and spirit. The BODY is the TEMPLE.
Blessings from Egypt!
