Fall Equinox is the balance of dark and light, day and night, and the drama of the descent of the Goddess throughout multiple cultures and traditions reflects the equinox: Demeter and Persephone, Inanna and Ereshkigal, Isis and Nephthys. The sweet sorrow of the Autumn season acknowledges that decay and death are always inevitable. Leading us through the innermost labyrinth are the the Dark Queens whose liminal natures signify the mysteries present in working the energies of life, death and rebirth: Hekate, Kali, Durga, Cerridwen, the Morrighan, Arianrhod, Coatlicue, The Fates. We honor the need for the downward spiral to connect with our deepest knowing. We reflect the shadows and the light. We know that we will rise again, renewed and filled with the wisdom of Goddess and her cycles.
The fall holidays are also beginning: Mabon (Thanksgiving for the Witches), Navaratri (Durga Puja and nine nights of the Shakti Mothers), and soon, Samhain. Gathering in community and celebration supports the challenging and rewarding inner work that we are undertaking.
Take time from the busy, modern rush to honor these ancient traditions and energies playing out in our transition to the season. Seek the depths of your soul connection to Goddess and treasure it as sustenance through the coming dark and to the inevitable rise of light. Thank you for being in community with MotherHouse of the Goddess and Mystery School of the Goddess. You are all part of my intense gratitude right now!
