Happy Summer! June is traditionally the month when we celebrate graduations, proms, and school vacations…the happier moments of life. June is also named after the Roman Goddess Juno, the protectress of marriage, home and children, and traditionally, June brides. June is also the month of the summer solstice in the Northern hemisphere (June 21), the longest day of the year, when we experience the most light in our 365 day sojourn around the sun. Science has proven that our human brains respond very positively to light; it eases depression and enhances physical vitality. Spend more time outdoors; enjoy more physical activity and remember to BREATHE in the fresh air and sunlight as fully as you can. Take full advantage of these longer summer days to increase your “light diet”….and it’s free!

NEW MOON IN GEMINI JUNE 3, 2019:
The New Moon on June 3 falls in Gemini, the quintessential Air sign, the mental communicator par excellence of the zodiac. The sign Gemini is ruled by the planet, Mercury, the Messenger of the gods. The lesson with this New Moon is that we are not just ruled by our emotions, but Mind and Heart need to work as one, not battle each other for psychic supremacy. It is the ability to think and communicate (whether written, spoken or telepathically) which allows all humans to learn, disseminate knowledge, and evolve to new awareness.
Astrologically, Gemini is represented by the symbol of the Twins, which we can decode as the left and right brain; logic and intuition working together. Words ARE powerful. They can create new worlds or destroy them. Rhetoric, propaganda, and media spins can have a brain-washing effect, if we are not discerning individuals. Negative thought forms bombard us ceaselessly. The inane stream of TV’s “so-called” news, talk-radio, and even mindless social media chatter can pollute our thinking. As we learn to turn off the “interference”, we are able to tune into our own inner guidance. If you are not sure how to do that, take a meditation or yoga class; learn how to meditate; listen to positive affirmations; breathe more (Gemini rules the lungs), and walk in nature.
Today’s scientific discoveries have raised the bar on the human condition. Scientists have measured that the more we think a particular thought, the deeper the pathway in the brain becomes. Repeating mantras and positive affirmations for health and healing now have a sound basis in scientific fact. As we look at opening up to new cognitive abilities, it is also important to realize that we are creating new worlds. Inner space, outer space, cyberspace…we are pushing boundaries in all directions. During this New Moon time, our thoughts, our beliefs and especially, our words are “resonance messengers” transmitting vital information to our brains, our cells, and our world at large.
This is the perfect time to declare your “thanks” by giving to others and by being grateful for all that you have in your life. There is no glass ceiling on the Truth. “As a man thinks, so he is.”
Wherever the sign of Gemini falls in your chart (by house position) will be activated by this New Moon. Gemini symbolizes how we perceive the universe around us and then convert it into our “knowingness”. For example, if you have Gemini in the 5th house, you may have a creative skill or hobby that you want to develop more fully (books, music, crafts, sports, etc.); or you may do work that involves children. Gemini in the 7th can experience an active social life. Gemini in the 11th may join diverse groups, organizations or social media groups. The part of the body ruled by Gemini is the arms, hands and respiratory system. Breathing problems, allergies, nervous disorders, and restless anxiety are all Gemini related issues.
During this New Moon, Geminis, in particular, may feel like they are on “overwhelm”, so try to spend a few hours “unplugged” from your telecommunications and computer devices. What “feeds” your brain? Junk thoughts and mindless social media chatter? Or expanding your mind and communicating from your heart? Learn something new; make a meaningful new friend; read (or reread) a favorite book. If you are feeling anxious with too much going on, get a small notebook or journal and jot down your thoughts and ideas the old-fashioned way. The physical act of writing is an amazingly cathartic experience and one of the best paths to self-discovery!
The New Moon and Mercury together in the sign of Gemini are in opposition to Jupiter in Sagittarius and squaring Neptune in Pisces. This forms a rather challenging astrological aspect known as the mutable T-Square. Translation: we need to be cautious about jumping to rash conclusions and/or scattered, foggy thinking. There is a tendency for “misinformation” to cloud our better judgment. Our words have the power to transform our reality. We must be cautious of overreacting emotionally to words. It is important to remember that negative words and thoughts reinforce negative reality. Be aware of falling into negative thinking or judgment patterns. With the New Moon in Gemini, we can shift into more positive thinking by watching our words. Use positive affirmations for reinforcement. Action definitely follows thought!
Mars in Cancer conjunct the North Node and Juno in Cancer:
In astrology, Juno is the asteroid goddess connected with home, marriage and domesticity. Falling in the sign of Cancer, she represents our feelings about women in general, and our thoughts about food, family and security. In conjunction with the North Node destiny point, the values of collective society are directed towards these issues. The USA is a Cancerian country (born on the 4th of July). We can expect to see more women’s/gender and immigration issues in the news, as well as, women taking on more powerful and active roles as political leaders. This theme also coincides with the Cancer/Capricorn eclipses in July (more in next month’s newsletter.)
In ancient Egypt, the god Thoth was the god of wisdom, medicine, writing and all sacred knowledge. The Greeks knew him as Hermes, and the Romans as Mercury. In Egypt, he is depicted as a tall man with the head of an ibis bird holding a long reed pen (stylus) and scribe’s palette. He was considered a magician, and the author of the “Emerald Tablets”. During this New Moon, you may want to call on Thoth as a Guide to help you access your inner wisdom and healing words of power.
