FULL MOON IN SCORPIO: MAY 18, 2019
In esoteric astrology, this Full Moon at 27 degrees Scorpio is also called the Wesak Moon or Buddha Moon . (It is also called the “Flower Full Moon”). During the Wesak Full Moon we honor the Master Buddha’s path of enlightenment. In Buddhism, this full moon is believed to be the most powerful one of the year when the Buddha returns to the Wesak Valley in the Himalayas and brings spiritual enlightenment to humanity. This Scorpio Full Moon is a potent reminder that if we commit our hearts fully to the path of Light or “Enlightenment”, we rise from the physical world of suffering to one of Mastery. No matter what our philosophical or religious beliefs, this is a very potent time on planet Earth for releasing and forgiving OLD hurts, traumas and memories, so that new life may occur. As Buddha and all the Ascended Masters have taught: “ Love is the true path to enlightenment”.
In mundane astrological terms, Scorpio is the fixed water sign ruled by both the planet Mars and Pluto. This is a highly charged full moon in two fixed signs (Sun in Taurus and Moon in Scorpio) signifying the need to breakdown long -held emotional, psychological and physical patterns. Scorpio has the capacity to move from the lowest depths to the highest peaks. It is the spirit of the Phoenix, which rises from the spiritual fire of its own ashes to be reborn into something new. Wherever a “system” is stuck (whether government, religious or personal, including emotional/physical/sexual issues), it is time to let go, forgive, and move on to create something new. Nothing in this universe remains stagnant for very long. Change and growth is inevitable. This Full Scorpio Moon shakes us out of complacency offering yet another opportunity to let go of old beliefs, situations and circumstances that do not match our inner truth. Often, the murky waters of Scorpio harbor deep secrets. Whether it is an archaeological treasure trove or an emotional trauma, you can expect the Scorpio Full Moon to bring secrets to the light.
Every Full Moon illuminates the positive qualities of the sign, as well as its shadow expressions. The Taurus/ Scorpio combination is Earth and Water. These are the fixed signs of fertility and sensuality; but they can also become prone to emotional and sexual insecurity, as well as, physical excess. It is extremely important during this time to remain neutral and to walk the Middle Path wherever this combination is found in your chart. In Taurus/ Scorpio we are dealing with TRUST issues and the basic building blocks of the human condition: LOVE and SECURITY.
The seven deadly sins all revolve around Taurus/Scorpio axis. Scorpio rules the “hidden” side of life…what is behind the veil, taboo, secret and occult. Scorpio is known as the “sexy” sign, but that translates as inner magnetism, which can attract or repel at will. We all have an inner Magician, Priestess, Shaman, Psychic Detective, Dark Goddess, and Psychologist indicated by the house where the sign of Scorpio falls in the birth chart. With awareness, these archetypes can be used constructively for our own healing and transformation.
Scorpio is the only of the zodiac, which has three levels: the Scorpion, the Eagle, and the Phoenix, denoting its inherent potential for total transformation. Like a snake shedding its old skin, Scorpio has the capacity to die to the old self/ego and be reborn. The positive side of Scorpio teaches compassion and forgiveness for ourselves and others; the right use of power, loyalty, and self-discipline. We learn that true intimacy is not based on control or possessiveness, but on the desire for oneness, compassion and truth.
The shadow side of Scorpio is abuse of power, secrecy, judgment, emotional repression, obsession, control, revenge and, manipulation. Recognizing and owning your Shadow, rather than projecting onto others, becomes a necessity if you have major Scorpio planets in your chart, especially the Moon (since the Moon rules the subconscious). Working with dreams, shamanic counseling, and other forms of psychotherapy, is an excellent way of bringing the Shadow into awareness.
Scorpio is the water sign also associated with our second chakra: creation and sexuality. The parts of the body ruled by Scorpio are the sex organs and the reproductive and elimination systems. Psychological and emotional blockages commonly show up as physical problems in these areas of the body. Yoga, martial arts, body work and massage, especially lymphatic massage, can be extremely helpful in moving blocked energy. Psychotherapy and astrological counseling, rebirthing techniques, and past life regression work, help us move through the emotional fears that keep us “stuck”.
Since Scorpio rules the deep waters of the subconscious, this full moon is a great time to indulge in some quiet reflection on your own: watch your dreams for messages; schedule a massage, treat yourself to an astrology reading, meditate and honor your inner world. Watch your dreams for intuitive messages. But above all, “Let go” of old habits…unclutter your mind…and don’t get caught up in the personal dramas of others. With the Moon in Taurus being good to yourself is a necessity now, not a luxury.
Sun and Mercury in Taurus Trine Pluto in Capricorn Opposite the Moon in Scorpio:
The Taurus/ Scorpio lessons are about our earthly desires: love/sex, money/power and security/control. Capricorn is the great Teacher regarding the material building blocks of 3 D reality: form, structure and boundaries. Do you feel “grounded”? Have you been listening to your body? Taurus can overindulge in a good thing. Know and establish your boundaries. Scorpio can become secretive and controlling with emotions AND money. Look at where the fear of lack or loss has kept you stuck or blocked in your life.
Remember that the Earth and Water signs nourish fertility and abundance. Manifestation equals positive belief and right action MINUS fear! This is a time when restoration and healing are possible on many levels. Both Taurus and Capricorn are Earth signs adding the element of stability and endurance to the massive changes we are undergoing on planet Earth. Outer security is never guaranteed, but inner peace can make even the most challenging situations bearable. With both the Sun and Mercury in Taurus, our views concerning material reality and possessions, as well as the very fabric of the universe (Pluto in Capricorn) come into question. Are we captive slaves to the “Matrix” or sovereign citizens of the New Earth? As someone very wise has said” The only antidote to Fear is Love”.
