NEW MOON IN TAURUS MAY 4, 2019:
All New Moons signify renewal and new beginnings; new seeds are planted for the month. What would you like to plant in your garden? Create for yourself over the coming weeks?
This month’s New Moon falls in the Earth sign Taurus, which rules the five perceptual senses; our groundedness in the physical world, and our connection to Mother Nature and our bodies. The ruler of the sign Taurus is the planet Venus, which represents what we love and value most in life. Venus expresses how we give and receive love. Is your heart an open channel, or are you blocked?
Taurus also rules the throat chakra and our “voice”. How do we express and create through sound? Our words are important. Mantras, music, singing and toning all help to channel positive energy through the throat chakra. In ancient Egypt, the Goddess Hathor ruled over the sign of Taurus and the constellation of the Pleiades. Her initiates were taught that “the Body is the Temple, and Sound is the Key”. Wise words to remember.
You will feel this New Moon wherever you have the sign Taurus falling in your birth chart. Taurus is a feminine earth sign ruled by Venus; her motto is “Make love, not war”. The Moon in Taurus is your comfort zone; it is where you find your “security blanket”. The Moon in Taurus is represented by the Great Earth Mother, nurturing and safe.
Taureans appreciate the finer things in life, and usually take great pride in what they create. Taurean talents can be expressed through singing, art, dance, fashion, architecture, and especially food. Because Taureans like to feel secure, they can also be very adept in the financial world of banking and real estate. They like to feel solid ground beneath their feet, and do best when they can spend time in nature, or at least a garden. It is said that Taurus is the sign with the “green thumb”! However, the “shadow” side of Taurus can express itself in wanting “too much of a good thing”, in overindulgence, possessiveness or greed. The great lesson with Taurus is to “let go and let love”.
During this New Moon weekend, it is the perfect time to indulge in a relaxing massage; romantic dinner; musical concert; or quiet walk in nature. Taurus is also a very sensual (being ruled by Venus, the planet of love). Texture, touch and taste are all important to the Taurean nature. They make excellent chefs, designers, stylists and massage therapists. Things that come from the earth are also under the rulership of Taurus: gemstones, crystals flowers and plant medicines. Since the throat chakra and our voice is ruled by Taurus, there are some very famous singers and songwriters born under that sign : Barbara Streisand, Kelly Clarkson, Aedele and Bono.
Mercury in Aries Square Pluto and Saturn in Capricorn: This square can be a challenging aspect, which means that our tests are not quite over yet. Mercury in Aries (our thought processes) can become impatient with Capricorn’s seriousness and “tough love” lessons. We may have a tendency to brood over things and problems that seem to never go away.
However, the planet Mercury in Aries is also trining Jupiter in Sagittarius ( a very positive aspect), which allows us to call up our inner reserves of faith and optimism (even if we didn’t know we had them). Use whatever is at your disposal to keep a positive attitude. Read a good book; listen to motivational speakers; go see an “upbeat” movie. Also, keeping your sense of humor intact and hanging out with people who are able to see the “glass as half full, not half empty” goes a long way towards relieving stress and doubt.
The operative issue here is that we do not want to get stuck in old fear issues (especially fears about lack and failure); but continue to have faith in ourselves to move beyond past obstacles. It is important to be flexible and to forgive ourselves and others for any perceived past “wrongs”. One of the biggest lessons of Taurus is self-love (not selfishness) tempered with compassion. Separation, whether caused by religious, political or cultural stereotyping, will be overcome as more humans realize that we are co-creators of our New Earth.
Sun and Moon in Taurus Sextile Neptune in Pisces:
This is a very dreamy, sensual aspect. If spending the day at the beach or luxuriating at a spa is not on your agenda, then there is always time to listen to some fun music; enjoy a great dinner with friends; go for an aromatherapy massage, or energy healing session. Celebrate your body! It’s also a good time for dream journaling. Memories, dreams and images surface more readily from the subconscious when we are in a relaxed state. Your guides may have some interesting information to impart at this time. What would you like to create for yourself during this Full Moon period (next two weeks)?
The Asteroids Chiron, Vesta & Juno Conjunct Venus in the sign of Aries:
This is a power-packed stellium in the fire sign of Aries showing that the “Divine Feminine” energy is here to stay. Vesta (the Priestess) and Juno ( the Wife) align with Venus in Aries (the Warrioress) to heal the wounds of the past (Chiron) that were inflicted upon women of all races and cultures. Once again, we are reminded that outmoded archetypes involving power struggles, sexual abuse and domination (Pluto in Capricorn) are coming to an end. Female voices are being heard, and the archaic patriarchal system is about to change. Systems that do not honor life and all sentient beings on this planet will not be sustained.
“May you always live in Truth and Walk in Beauty!”
