Personal Protection and psychic self defense should be used every single day and especially for astral plane work like meditation, journey work, ritual, ceremony. This is a simple exercise that may be used as often as you need and is very effective for those who have empathic gifts that may seem overwhelming.
Sit in your sacred space and breathe deeply. Do a four count in through your nose and a four count out through your mouth. Contract. Expand. Fill up your diaphragm and release.
Relax your body. Start with your crown chakra (top of your head) and slowly move all the way down to your root chakra and then to your feet. Consciously relax each muscle and area of the body as you move through it. Deep breathe, continue the four count in and four count out, and do not move on until you feel each area is relaxed.
Feel your aura. The aura is our natural “shield” so to speak. When we are happy and exuberant, our aura expands. When we are sad or frightened, our aura contracts.
It generally hovers at about an arm’s length from your body. It is a tangible force – different from the environment around you. To some, there is a temperature change, the aura may feel warmer. To others, there is a feeling of moving through something with a different texture, like when we push our hand through water. Try to feel the resistance of the aura. This takes practice, so if there is not a noticeable difference, don’t worry. Move on to the next part.
CREATING YOUR BUBBLE
Visualize a bright, white, sparkling star above your head – hold it for a few moments and strengthen the visualization.
Allow a stream of white light to descend from the star and completely encase your aura and seal up at the bottom of your feet – in effect creating a “bubble” of white light. If you cannot feel your aura, extend your arms and allow the bubble to encompass that area.
Stay with the visualization – keep pouring white light into your bubble. Make it sparkling, perhaps weave some other rainbow colors into it. Go with your intuition.
As the bubble fills, see if you can feel the tension (in a good way) of your auric field. It should feel stronger and the tension should in turn strengthen the bubble. In your mind’s eye, see the bubble around you. See if you can perceive your own aura within the bubble in your mind’s eye, as well.
When your bubble feels “full”, state the intention that nothing can interfere with this bubble without YOU ALLOWING IT!
Your magick is your will…USE IT.
This is the energy of your Guardians, your Guides, Goddess Herself, surrounding you, empowering you, protecting you. If you have a prayer, speak the prayer and infuse the bubble with that prayer. Use a mantra or chant to strengthen your bubble if that helps you focus and create your intention.
Maintain steady, deep breathing. Feel the bubble expand and contract with your breaths.
Play with the bubble a bit – see how far away from you that you can extend it before it begins to weaken. In general and for beginning practice, the bubble will be more effective the closer it remains to your auric field, but this will change as you practice. Eventually, you will be able to encompass any space within that bubble – like your house. Right now, just focus on you.
If at anytime the energy in your bubble or aura appears appears or feels cloudy, take a deep breath and on the exhale, consciously push the cloudy energy out of the bubble. Go through the steps to fill and strengthen the bubble by drawing down the light from the star over your head. White, shining, glittery light. Cleansed. Renewed.
Now, we are going to allow the bubble to be absorbed by our energetic field/aura.
Deep breathe again and allow the bubble to fade from conscious sight. The intention is that the bubble remains within your aura to filter out negative energy. State it out loud if that works for you.
A bubble is good for visualization because it is simple and easy to manage. Bubbles are porous (or should be). Strong enough to keep things out, but flexible enough for you to work with the energy. Visualization of an impenetrable wall sometimes become just that – impenetrable to the positive flow of energy that you want to invite in, as well as keeping out the negative.
We can use a visualization of a wall for particular circumstances, if you encounter someone that is a vampire or just icky. Keep practicing with your bubble and soon you will be able to throw up the bubble or a wall if you feel like you need protection or to quickly repel negative energy. If you use the wall visualization, take your walls back down when the need has passed– don’t forget! The bubble remains as a permanent outer force field to your aura that can also be utilized as a filter, but walls are really for reinforced, situational protection.
You may also change the color of the bubble for specific purposes – need to be calm? Try a light blue bubble. Want to amp up your energy or pack a punch? – try red and so on.
Protection is important and a basic metaphysical practice. Bubbles, shields, walls, can effectively keep negative energies of all kinds away from you and give you mindful control of what you allow in and out of your space. This visualization should be done daily until it becomes second nature and also situationally, especially if something happens that throws your chakras and aura off balance. It is also a good exercise when your aura feels mucky and you want to consciously push some energy out.
