Hello Everyone and HAPPY NEW YEAR 2019!!
This first New Moon of 2019 is a solar eclipse, which starts our New Year off with a big astrological bang! Eclipses always come in pairs, and later this month on Jan 20-21, there will be a total lunar eclipse in the sign of Leo ( it’s also a “Super Moon” ) visible in the Americas, Europe, Africa and the Middle East. Eclipses usually follow a 19-year cyclical pattern. What was happening in your life back at the beginning of 2000, the “Millennium” year?

NEW MOON IN CAPRICORN SOLAR ECLIPSE JANUARY 5-6, 2019
This New Moon in Capricorn breathes new life and momentum into our New Year’s intentions. This month’s “stellium” line up, of no less than 5 planets in Capricorn, (Sun, Moon, Mercury, Saturn and Pluto), reinforces our “mission” to be the builders of our own reality. How strong are our psychological and emotional foundations?
The upcoming eclipse cycle may be test us by bringing up all kinds of past fears, whether real or irrational (“the shadow”). The good news is that if we also have the opportunity to “reformulate” and “restructure” past beliefs and attitudes, which have hindered our growth.
This New Moon is also a solar eclipse visible in the Far East and part of Alaska. Solar Eclipses are usually outer-event oriented; bringing new circumstances, people (especially male energy), and decisions into our lives. More often than not, there are endings or final closures before the new can occur. Solar eclipses have a way of serving up things that have been “cooking” a long time into immediate focus. In other words, you can’t just ignore the issue; it must be faced. As previously mentioned, eclipses follow a 19-year cyclical pattern. What was happening in your life back at the beginning of the year 2000? A major chapter is closing, so that a new one may begin. Themes around money, power and security are all in the mix. Where the New Moon falls in your personal horoscope (by house and aspects) will reveal the new potentials and possibilities available to you.
Taking responsibility, maintaining order, and creating stability in our own lives is the primary lesson of Capricorn, the Great Teacher. Capricorn often receives a bad rap for being too unemotional, too ambitious, and too concerned with money. This is the Capricorn “ shadow” of becoming too entrapped by the material world.
However, Capricorn is also the cardinal Earth sign which symbolizes our connection to Mother Earth (the Pacha Mama); as well as our spiritual lineage, and ancestral traditions and roots. Capricorn grounds us in physicality and in our bodies; it allows us to build a solid foundation for the future. In esoteric astrology, Capricorn is the sign of the Master, as well as the Initiate. It is the “Hermit” of the tarot deck, whose message is to seek our own inner guidance and listen to the messages from Spirit. We can draw great comfort from our spiritual teachers and lineages right now as we deal with the challenges of the 3D world. It is also important to remember that “Mastery” is not automatically given; it is achieved ONLY after hard work and self-discipline. This is the optimal time for letting go of limiting habits, addictions and situations. The help of a trusted therapist, mentor or teacher can go a long way. New hope and inspiration is only a breath away, so remember to BREATHE deeply, as you set your intentions for the New Year.
In astrology, Saturn rules the concepts of three dimensional “time” and physical boundaries. There are no short-cuts when we are under the auspices of Capricorn and Saturn. It is essential to understand the importance of “good timing”, as well as patience. Shamanic teachers embody this aspect of Capricorn. They truly honor the Mother Earth by respecting the human body, and by the proper use of plant medicines, herbs and stones. They also know the secret of “no time” and “dream time”, as they teach us how to stretch time and become more in synch with our multidimensional aspects.
PLANETARY PICTURES: The Capricorn Stellium (5 planets):
With the three personal planets (Sun, Moon, and Mercury ), and two “karmic” planets (Saturn & Pluto) in the sign of Capricorn, this can be a most fortuitous time, if we know how to “walk our talk”. This is the Universe’s way of saying: “no shortcuts, please”!”
Saturn is planet of Mastery and Limitation; for we must be committed, focused and disciplined in order to achieve our goals. In the words of the ancients: “Know Thyself”. The transformational planet, Pluto, in Capricorn is also in conjunction with this New Moon eclipse. The theme here is “power”. Pluto also has to do with “the Shadow” world of big business, power and world governments.
Capricorn is the sign that has to do with money, finances and material security. When these two join, empires rise and fall. The chart of the U.S. as a Cancerian country (born on the 4th of July) is directly impacted by these planetary pictures. The shadow side of Saturn in Capricorn is domination through fear and intimidation. “Walls” (whether real or imagined) are a projection of fear, not power. Prisons also have walls. In the weeks following this eclipse, China, both Koreas, Asia (including Russia), will make even more news headlines, especially in regard to “secrets” being leaked.
Mars and Jupiter in Fire Signs: Mars and Jupiter are both in fire signs at this time, Aries and Sagittarius, respectively. Together they mobilize and inspire the Capricorn earth stellium to move mountains!
PERSONALLY SPEAKING: If you have a Capricorn Sun, Moon or Ascendant, this is a very important Moon of “new beginnings” for you. Releasing old memories and long held belief systems that no longer serve you, will help to clarify your goals now. Capricorns are not afraid of hard work, but they do not like to feel “uprooted”. It is always good to remember that change is not necessarily disruptive; it can also be exciting and life-affirming, if we are becoming too stuck in our ways. On the positive side, Capricorns are extremely alert to advantageous opportunities and the best way to utilize them.
The Capricorn theme is “wisdom learned through experience”. Capricorn rules the physical support system of the body: our skeleton, bones, teeth, and skin. Capricorn teaches us to take responsibility for our bodies in physical reality. We cannot complete our spiritual work unless our bodies can handle the immense influx of energies pouring into this planet. Gemstones, crystals and healing herbs work well with the Capricorn Moon’s grounding energy. Spend some time in nature, get a hot-stone massage, begin a healthy diet regime. Honoring our bodies as Temples of Light is part of the program now.
CAPRICORN NEW MOON: TREE OF LIFE MEDITATION:
Find your quiet inner space and relax. Light a white candle. Take a few deep breaths, centering yourself in the moment. Take a piece of paper and write down your intentions for this New Moon. Fold the paper and keep it near you. Now, imagine yourself in a beautiful green meadow filled with lush, green grass. You notice a slight breeze with the scent of flowers in the air. You lie down beneath a majestic pine tree, whose branches stretch miles into the sky. This is your personal Tree of Life. Its pine needles make a soft, fragrant cushion beneath you, and you feel totally relaxed and at one with the Earth. You can smell the soothing essence of pine, fresh grass and wild flowers all around you. Lying here, you look up and see a clear, cloudless sky above you. Even though it is daylight, you can see the outline of the Crescent Moon and a brilliant blue/white star pulsating above it. This is the perfect “wishing” star, the Star Sirius. You remember your list of intentions and repeat them to yourself (or out loud) while concentrating on this star. (If you don’t remember them all, they are already written on the paper, which is sufficient.) You remember that the Goddess Isis is connected with this Star Sirius, and she is the Goddess of magic, miracles and healing. See yourself planting your “wish list” below the big pine tree. Then, imagine the light from the star shining down and “watering” your list, as well as the roots of your magical tree. Now, feel the light from this star penetrate your crown chakra and proceed down the meridians of your body to your feet. You wiggle your toes with delight! You are pulsing with star light in your body. You feel energized, refreshed and more alive! Now, picture each of your intentions as if it had already come true, and imagine how you would feel if that were really your reality. Now, ask Isis (however you envision her) to assist with this process of creative manifestation in your life. As you sit with her, you can feel her beautiful unconditional love and support for you. You truly feel like her Divine Child. After a few minutes, you thank her and say goodbye. Bring your awareness to the present. Take the paper with your intentions and place it on your altar (if you don’t have one, you can create one with a few of your favorite crystals, sacred objects, yellow or white candle and fresh summer flowers).
Allow your intentions to be nurtured by Isis over the next 14 days until the Full Moon and know that you may return to your magical Tree of Life at any time.
