The moon is NEW in Capricorn today at 9:18pm eastern. And when I say Capricorn, I mean the Capricorn influence is everywhere! Not only is this potent New Moon in Capricorn, but so is the Sun, Mercury, Venus, Saturn, and Pluto. This brings to bear some intense energy on many aspects of our lives, especially for those with Capricorn in their charts. As well, the Black Moon Lilith is present and she adds the subtle nuances of long-standing shadows that may surface in this lunation.
Let’s start with the powerful intention setting energy right now. Each and every New Moon is an opportunity to set or reset our intentions, but this New Moon in Capricorn is urging us to bring our intentions, dreams, and visions down to the earth plane NOW. Capricorn is all about structure, bones, earth, achievement, careers and profession, and gives us the framework for manifestation in the here and now. The intentions that we are projecting into the universe right now may have reverberations for months (and maybe years). As well, all of this Capricorn energy is also assisting in clearing the muck, the energies that no longer serves, and helping us to craft our intentions more clearly. The astrology breakdown for this New Moon and planetary influences can be found on Mary Lomando’s awesome Astrology Update and I am also linking to the Astrology Trends of 2018 podcast that we did a few weeks ago in case you missed it. Mary is also offerings a Black Moon Lilith reading to identify that energy in your chart. See below for details.
The Goddesses that are stepping forward for this New Moon and lunation are soooo interesting.
We truly see the above and below with White Tara and Al-Lat.
“White Tara is particularly associated with healing, protecting and stabilizing your life-force.” ~ Gelek Rimpoche
Compassion, mercy, unending love, protection, and peace are the gifts that White Tara brings to us. Breathe in Her love and breathe out all that creates chaos in your mind and life. Breathe in Her light and breathe out the patterns and energies that are heavy and bringing you down. Breathe in Her protection and breathe out fear and sadness. White Tara is vigilant in her healing, filling devotees with her soothing, moonlike calm, and augmenting their life force with her own.
She is also called Sita Tara (Pure Tara) and in Nepal she is called Saptalocana Tara, Seven-eyed Tara. Her distinguishing features are, of course, her seven eyes (the two on the face, her third eye, and one eye in each palm and the sole of each foot) and her position on the lotus which is meditation posture with both legs tucked. She may have two or four hands with one in the boon-giving gesture and one holding lotuses at three stages of growth.
It is said that “the mere sound of her name dispels death, sickness, misery, and bestows long life”. Her areas of particular influence are healing and long life. Some sects call her Myrtyvancana Tara – Tara Who Cheats Death. Her healing can cure not only physical but psychic ailments as well.
She gathers us to Her heart and makes space for us to heal, to plan for a long and well life.
What blessings could White Tara bring to you? What can you offer up to White Tara to purify your mind, body, spirit? How can she assist you in honing your intentions in this lunation with compassion, clarity, and healing?
The pre-Islamic Arabic Goddess, Al-Lat, comes wrapped in her robes of Earth. She is fertility, prosperity, the result of seeds that have been carefully planted and cultivated. Her name simply means “the Goddess” and she is also called “Mother of the Gods” and “Greatest of All”. She is part of a triplicity with her sisters, Al-Uzza (Maiden – the Strong One) and Menat (Crone – Apportioner), as the life-giving Mother. She has also been connected with Athena/Minerva and Aphrodite/Venus.
Allat’s name may be a contraction of al-Illahat, “the Goddess”. She is mentioned by Herodotus as Alilat whom he thinks is Urania (a celestial aspect of Aphrodite), associated with the heavens and telling the future from observing the paths of the stars. Herodotus tells a story of how the Arabs swore an oath in blood (they cut their middle fingers) and in the names of Dionysus and Urania to fulfill their bargain.
Her sanctuary was in the town of Ta’if, east of Mecca, and her symbol is the crescent moon (sometimes shown with the sun disk resting in its crescent, she bears a sheaf of wheat; and in her hand she holds a small lump of frankincense, as her emblem is found carved on many incense-holders. ~ from The Book of Idols
Al-Lat is the Nurturer who blesses the seeds, the intentions, that we are putting into place now. We are invited to become potent co-creators with her as she sinks us into the fertile earthly realms, offering grounding, stability, growth, and prosperity.
The crystals that are included in the reading are a Black Shiva Lingam, tumbled Shungite, Black Obsidian wand, Mahogany Obsidian needles, and White Quartz wand. The Black Shiva Lingam reflects the void, the Mystery (capital M all the way) and Kali’s cosmic dance. Shungite is an incredible healing and protection stone that is also called the “Miracle Stone”. It promotes growth and transformation. Black Obsidian reflects negative energy and cuts through illusions – very important as we are transitioning to the next two year cycle of Saturn in Capricorn. Mahogany Obsidian includes the benefits of Black Obsidian, but also has a heart of fire that allows us to tap into our personal power. Crystal Quartz is a Master stone and magnifier. Any or all of these are potent partners as you work in this lunation AND threw the upcoming eclipses. I am happy to put together a custom crystal bag for you – email me for details! OR join the MotherHouse of the Goddess Facebook Group which has a weekly Crystal Flash Sale!
As we begin in this New Moon in Capricorn, we have two weeks in this lunation to carefully craft our celestial visions into the earth plane. Don’t rush. Do a release of the energies and situations which no longer serve, because burning shit (and this New Moon ceremony) always helps. Take advantage of the structure of Capricorn to set a solid framework. Invite the healing energies of White Tara and the fertility energies of Al-Lat to move your intentions along.
We are in a bring cycle that will culminate in a MAGICK FULL MOON that is a Blue Moon and Lunar Eclipse on 1/31/2018. Talk about a punctuation on your intention crafting!
