NEW MOON IN CAPRICORN JANUARY 16, 2018
This New Moon in Capricorn breathes new life and momentum into our New Year’s intentions, which were “seeded” at the last Cancerian Full Moon (January 1st). This month’s “stellium” line up, of no less than 6 planets in Capricorn, (Sun, Moon, Mercury, Venus, and Saturn & Pluto), reinforces our “mission” to be the builders of our own reality. Taking responsibility, maintaining order, and creating stability in our own lives is the lesson of Capricorn, the Great Teacher.
Capricorn often receives a bad rap for being too unemotional, too ambitious, and too concerned with money. There is a shadow side of becoming too entrenched in the world of 3D and becoming trapped by our material desires, (the “matrix”). However, Capricorn is the cardinal Earth sign which symbolizes our connection to Mother Earth (the Pacha Mama); as well as our spiritual lineage, and ancestral traditions and roots. Capricorn grounds us in physicality and our bodies; it allows us to build a solid foundation for the future.
In esoteric astrology, Capricorn is the sign of the Initiate, as well as the Adept. It is the “Hermit” of the tarot deck, whose message is to seek our own inner counsel and listen to the messages from Spirit. Saturn rules the concept of three dimensional “time” and physical boundaries. There are no short-cuts when we are under the auspices of Capricorn and Saturn. It is essential to understand the importance of “good timing”, as well as patience. Shamanic teachers embody this aspect of Capricorn. They truly honor Mother Earth by respecting the human body, and by the proper use of plant medicines, herbs and stones. They also know the secret of “no time” and “dream time”, as they teach us how to stretch time and become more in synch with our multidimensional aspects.
If you have Capricorn Sun, Moon or Ascendant, this is a very important Moon of “new beginnings” for you. What may have seemed to get off to a slow start at the beginning of the New Year (Full Moon), will now forge ahead due to the previously mentioned momentum of the Capricorn stellium. Also, releasing old memories and long held belief systems that no longer serve you, may actually help to clarify your goals now.
Capricorns are not afraid of hard work, but they do not like to feel “uprooted”. It is always good to remember that change is not necessarily disruptive; it can also be exciting and life-affirming, if we are becoming too stuck in our ways. On the positive side, Capricorns are extremely alert to advantageous opportunities and the best way to utilize them. The Capricorn theme is “wisdom learned through experience”. Capricorn rules the physical support system of the body: our skeleton, bones, teeth, and skin. Capricorn teaches us to take responsibility for our bodies in physical reality. We cannot complete our spiritual work unless our bodies can handle the immense influx of energies pouring into this planet. Gemstones, crystals and healing herbs work well with the Capricorn Moon’s grounding energy.
Your dreams may also offer important messages at this time. Honoring our bodies as Temples of Light is part of the program now.
The Capricorn Stellium (6 planets):
This can be a most fortuitous time if we know how to “walk our talk”. With four personal planets (Sun, Moon, and Mercury & Venus), and two “karmic” planets (Saturn & Pluto) in the sign of Capricorn, this is the Universe’s way of saying: “no shortcuts, please”!”
The planet Saturn is the ruler of Capricorn. It is the planet of Mastery and Limitation; for we must be committed, focused and disciplined in order to achieve our goals. In the words of the ancients: “Know Thyself”. Both Jupiter and Mars create a very powerful and positive aspect with the Capricorn stellium (see below); this is cosmic rocket fuel for creative manifestation!
Mars and Jupiter in Scorpio:
Mars and Jupiter are both in the sign of Scorpio at this time, mobilizing the Capricorn stellium to fulfill its passions and create miracles!
The transformational planet, Pluto in Capricorn is in conjunction with this New Moon and also makes a positive aspect with Jupiter and Mars, both in the sign of Scorpio. This is a powerful planetary grouping – The Chairman of the Board meets the CIA! No stone will be left unturned getting to the bottom of things; secrets will be uncovered.
Pluto also has to do with “the Shadow” world of big business, power and world governments. Capricorn is the sign that has to do with money, finances and material security, while Scorpio also deals with money, sex, sports and scandals When these two join, worlds may collide. The chart of the U.S. as a Cancerian country (born on the 4th of July) is directly impacted by these planetary pictures.
Back room scenarios taking place right now will impact both Koreas, and unfold next month around “the games”. However, there is no way to stay stuck in the past bemoaning the “good old days”. Whether it is “bit-coin” financing, or marijuana marketing, the breakdown of the “old ways” is already in motion.
Venus Square Uranus:
The New Moon and Venus in Capricorn make a challenging aspect (square) to the unpredictable planet, Uranus in Aries. Aries threatens Capricorn stability. This can be a very complex and volatile emotional time, if we are not in touch with our own feelings, (or we operate from denial rather than from awareness).
There is a strong likelihood that past emotional insecurities may trigger strong reactions and churning up the “perfect storm” of chaos in relationships. In your own life, release what no longer serves you. “Hoarding” (whether possessions or people) on any level is symptomatic of fear. Pluto in Capricorn is all about reconstructing the old systems. As with any successful rebuilding project, demolition precedes new construction, even in personal relationships.
