ASTROLOGICAL UPDATE: FULL MOON IN SCORPIO MAY 10, 2017
Scorpio is the fixed water sign ruled by both the planet Mars and Pluto. This is a highly charged full moon in two fixed signs (Sun in Taurus and Moon in Scorpio) signifying the need to breakdown long -held emotional, psychological and physical patterns. Scorpio has the capacity to move from the lowest depths to the highest peaks. It is the spirit of the Phoenix, which rises from the spiritual fire of its own ashes to be reborn into something new. Wherever a “system” is stuck (whether government, economic, religious or personal), it is time to let go, forgive, and move on to create something new. Nothing in this universe remains stagnant for very long. Change and growth is inevitable.
This Full Scorpio Moon shakes us out of complacency offering yet another opportunity to let go of old beliefs, situations and circumstances that do not match our inner truth. The Scorpio moon is a great time to indulge in some quiet reflection on your own; schedule a massage, treat yourself to an astrology reading, meditate and honor your inner world. Just spending a few minutes “moon-gazing” is a wonderful way to recharge your psychic batteries.
PERSONALLY SPEAKING:
Every Full Moon illuminates the positive qualities of the sign, as well as its shadow expressions. The Taurus/ Scorpio combination is Earth and Water. These are the fixed signs of fertility and sensuality; but they can also become prone to emotional insecurity, as well as, physical excess. It is extremely important during this time to remain neutral and to walk the Middle Path wherever this combination is found in your chart. In Taurus/ Scorpio we are dealing with TRUST issues and the basic building blocks of the human condition: LOVE and SECURITY. The seven deadly sins all revolve around Taurus/Scorpio axis. Scorpio rules the “hidden” side of life…what is behind the veil, taboo, secret and occult. Scorpio is known as the “sexy” sign, but that translates as inner magnetism, which can attract or repel at will.
We all have an inner Magician, Priestess, Shaman, Psychic Detective, Dark Goddess, and Psychologist indicated by the house where the sign of Scorpio falls in the birth chart. With awareness, these archetypes can be used constructively for our own healing and transformation. Scorpio is the only of the zodiac, which has three levels: the Scorpion, the Eagle, and the Phoenix, denoting its inherent potential for total transformation. Like a snake shedding its old skin, Scorpio has the capacity to die to the old self/ego and be reborn. The positive side of Scorpio teaches compassion and forgiveness for ourselves and others; the right use of power, loyalty, and self-discipline. We learn that true intimacy is not based on control or possessiveness, but on the desire for oneness, compassion and truth.
The shadow side of Scorpio is abuse of power, secrecy, judgment, emotional repression, obsession, control, revenge and, manipulation. Recognizing and owning your Shadow, rather than projecting onto others, becomes a necessity if you have major Scorpio planets in your chart, especially the Moon (since the Moon rules the subconscious). Working with dreams, shamanic counseling, and other forms of psychotherapy, are all excellent ways of bringing the Shadow into awareness.
Scorpio is the water sign also associated with our second chakra: creation and sexuality. The parts of the body ruled by Scorpio are the sex organs and the reproductive and elimination systems. Psychological and emotional blockages commonly show up as physical problems in these areas of the body. Yoga, martial arts, body work and massage, especially lymphatic massage, can be extremely helpful in moving blocked energy. Psychotherapy and astrological counseling, rebirthing techniques, and past life regression work, help us move through the emotional fears that keep us “stuck”. During this Full Moon, take some time out for yourself. It is a good time to re-establish your connections with nature…walk…plant a garden…meditate…work with your crystals. “Let go” of out worn possessions and habits…unclutter your space…donate to charity… being good to yourself is a necessity now, not a luxury.
PLANETARY PICTURES:
Sun in Taurus Trine Pluto in Capricorn: Sun in Taurus lessons are about love and money, bringing up issues around physical and emotional stability. Pluto in Capricorn in Capricorn is about massive restructuring of form. Outer security is never guaranteed, but inner peace can make even the most challenging situations bearable. Do you feel “grounded”? Have you been listening to your body? This is a time when restoration and healing are possible on many levels. Both Taurus and Capricorn are Earth signs adding the element of stability and endurance to the massive changes we are undergoing on planet Earth.
Mercury in Aries Conjunct Uranus in Aries: We may be feeling like we are on” fast forward “after the last few weeks of Mercury’s retrograde motion. Having the courage to act on our convictions is important now. Aries can be idealistic, but a bit too impulsive. Learn to listen to all sides before making any snap decisions or rash comments. On the positive side, we won’t be inclined to take “no” for an answer.
Pluto in Capricorn Conjunct Asteroid Juno in Capricorn: This aspect signifies the need for equality in relationship. As more and more women step into their power, new archetypes for women emerge. Old patriarchal values of domination and control whether in politics, religion or personal relationships, will be transformed. Injustices will be brought to light, whether it is cyber-bullying or sexual trafficking.
In addition, on this Full Moon, the Moon’s Nodes move into the signs of Leo/Aquarius (for the next 18 months). Our Heart’s desire (Leo) is attainable when we understand how to use the power of our Mind (Aquarius). “Conscious Creation” is the goal.
The SABIAN SYMBOL for 21 Degrees Scorpio: “Obeying his conscience, a soldier resists orders: A readiness to face the results of a refusal to follow the authoritarian patterns of an aggressive society.” (Dane Rudhyar)
