Emissary Priestess of Isis and Sacred Geography
You are walking down the steps of the boat dock. Down, down, down this flight of stairs. And with each step you allow yourself to go deeper within. With each step you breath and connect to that sacred self within. You recognize the sparks of divinity within your sacred core. You climb aboard your golden barge and soon your journey to the Temple of Isis is underway. As you travel along the waters of the Nile, you see the green papyrus growing on the river banks. You gaze at the white egrets in their gentle majesty and you smile as you see the children playing in the shallow waters with the family water buffalo. You allow the gentle rocking of the boat and the lapping of the waves to take you ever deeper within. Soon you are at the Temple of Isis, the destination of your long awaited journey
As you embark from your felucca, the traditional sailboat Egypt, you can hardly contain your excitement. Exhilaration and awe flow through your body like a wave as you stand under the hot sun in the outer courtyard of this ancient stone temple. You take in the grandeur standing before you and as if touched by the hand of the Lady of Mystery and Magic, you are amazed that you can actually decipher the hieroglyphic carvings in this revered domain of Isis. Here is one of the last Pagan temples to close under the pressure of the spread of Christianity. You run your fingers along the carvings and comprehend the inscriptions and images of this temple associated with Isis, She of Ten Thousand Names. Here this mighty Goddess stood on the fringes of the empire as a beloved protectress of their people.
Moving within the dark recesses of the temple, you begin to intuitively sense taking a journey to this temple might suggest cultivating the ability to call upon the courage and strength of your own inner warrior or heroine. You know this means transcending the powerful and primal feelings of fear and anxiety that sometimes grips you and creeps with cold fingers up your spine. To teach yourself to master fear and access your personal empowerment you instinctively seek out the cella, or holy of holies within this holy stone fortress. One turn down the hallway and you find the heart of the temple and see it is lit only by the flames of a fire blazing in the copper cauldron within. Feeling the heat on your skin, you intuit you can cast your doubts and fears upon this sacred blaze, allowing these unhelpful emotions to morph within the heat and transform into the flames of passion and strength that steel you and give you confidence, purpose and determination. As you will yourself to invoke fortitude and serenity, the walls of the cella surrounding you seem to go liquid and your ears are filled with the sound of the heartbeat of the cella. You feel a pressure upon your temples and sense these powers begin to reverberate within every fiber of your being until finally a feeling of warmth swirls and settles in your torso. You are receiving the gifts of Isis as they pour forth from the heart of the temple to fill you. You know you have now tapped into this reservoir of ancient power and you are filled with a knowing you can readily activate within you this essence anytime you must channel doubt and anxiety into energy to achieve your heart’s desire.
Reluctant to leave the cella, you turn back for a parting glance and you notice the cauldron of transformation has disappeared and before your eyes is a Milky Way of stars that contains the face of Isis. As you focus on this Cosmic Mother, rays of celestial light reach out toward you and you understand her gifts were not limited to helping you access your inner strength and courage. They also want you to be aware of an important truth. As you look into her eyes she imparts the wisdom that strength and courage are not always about wielding the biggest club. Strength and courage also manifest in many more subtle ways. These attributes might be necessary in order to be gentle or show compassion as well as be assertive and stand in one’s own power in the face of adversity. It might mean applying discernment alongside power to resist recklessness. It could mean finding the cunning to know when to remain silent and wait as the energies of the Universe percolate.
As you exit the temple under the heat of the Egyptian sun and return to your felucca, a quiet calm seems to have permeated your psyche and you silently thank Isis for these gifts of wisdom she has bestowed upon you in this sacred place. You feel wrapped in the golden embrace of the magickal wings of Isis and know the many layers of strength that can be accessed here. All the way home you contemplate what has just transpired and the wondrous journey you have just made.
Your felucca has now returned you to your dock and you are back from where you started. When you are ready, open your eyes, shake your hands and feet and bring yourself back into the room.
