ASTROLOGICAL UPDATE: NEW MOON IN TAURUS APRIL 26, 2017
All New Moons signify renewal, new beginnings; new seeds are planted for the month. This month’s New Moon falls in the Earth sign Taurus, which rules the five perceptual senses; our connection to the physical world, Mother Nature and our bodies. It is important that we take our bodies and our physical health seriously. It is important for “spring cleaning” inside and out. The ruler of the sign Taurus is the planet Venus, which teaches us about what we love and value most in life. Taurus also rules the throat chakra and our “voice”. How do we express and create through sound? Our words are important. Mantras, music, singing all help to channel positive energy. This is the time to remember that “The body is the Temple; and Sound is the Key.”
In ancient Egypt, the Goddess Hathor ruled over the sign of Taurus and the constellation of the Pleiades. Hathor taught all women about love, beauty and the arts. This is the cycle for opening our hearts and minds to Love.
You will feel this New Moon wherever you have the sign Taurus falling in your birth chart. Taurus is a feminine earth sign ruled by Venus; her motto is “Make love, not war”. The Moon in Taurus is your comfort zone; it is where you find your “security blanket”. The Moon in Taurus is represented by the Great Earth Mother, nurturing and safe. Taureans appreciate the finer things in life, and usually take great pride in what they create. Their artistic talents can be expressed through music, art, dance, fashion, architecture, and especially food. Because Taureans like to feel secure, they can also be very adept in the financial world of banking and real estate. They like to feel solid ground beneath their feet, and do best when they can spend time in nature, or at least a garden. This is the perfect time to indulge in a relaxing massage; romantic dinner; musical concert; or quiet walk in the park.
Planetary Pictures :
Mercury and Saturn are still in retrograde motion (see last month’s Full Moon update), as well as Jupiter and Pluto. This is a good time to review, re-edit, or reorganize anything that has been on “the back burner” before moving fast forward with plans. Patience is the Key. It is also the perfect time to let go of the old resentments and beliefs, which keep us stuck in the past.
The operative issue here is that we do not get stuck in old fear issues (especially fears about lack and failure); but continue to have faith in ourselves. It is important to be flexible and to forgive ourselves and others for any perceived past “wrongs”. One of the biggest lessons of Taurus is self-love (not selfishness) tempered with patience. We now have the physical energy to move beyond past obstacles.
Separation, whether by religious, political or cultural stereotyping, will be overcome as more humans realize that we are co-creators of our New Earth.
Mercury Conjunct Uranus in Aries Trine Saturn in Sagittarius: This is a fire sign trine signifying that logic (Saturn) and intuition (Uranus) can indeed work together to create stability in a time of great change and innovation.
Mercury (known as Thoth in ancient Egypt and Hermes in Greece) is the god of wisdom and healing. This is a very helpful aspect for positive thinking and utilizing the power of the Mind to clear all obstacles.
Pluto Conjunct Juno:
Pluto joins the Goddess asteroid Juno in the sign of Capricorn. Both planets are in aspect to Juno’s male consort, Jupiter (in the sign of Libra). Juno, as one of the main female asteroids, comes into her own power with Pluto. Be aware of hidden agendas, manipulation and emotional blackmail in personal relationships. Once again, we are reminded that shadow archetypes of power, sexual abuse and domination (Pluto in Capricorn) will be brought into light and balance (Libra). Female voices will be heard, and the old patriarchal systems will change. You cannot fool Mother Nature!
