Astrology Update – New Moon in Scorpio October 30 {Mary Lomando}

Happy New Moon and Happy All Hallows Eve! This is the Scorpio season of the year …the perfect time for psychic housecleaning, inner reflection, and introspection. We all have an “inner voice”, but our minds are often too cluttered with distractions to hear it. This New Moon in Scorpio invites us to listen, dream and give expression to that inner muse.  The true celebration of Halloween “lifts the veil” between life and death with the knowledge that all life is eternal. It is about honoring our Spiritual lineage (no matter what that may be) and remembering that all life on planet Earth is sacred.

** Next month, I will be writing the November astrological update (Full Moon in Taurus) from Luxor, Egypt. Follow me on Facebook for that update. Also, take advantage of my “New Year” astrology special during the month of December: 2 readings for $150.

Scorpio is the fixed water sign ruled by both the planet Mars and Pluto. The raw power of emotion is at its highest intensity in Scorpio.  Therefore, this is a highly charged New Moon signifying that it is time to examine our core beliefs and emotions in order to rebuild that which has become broken, outworn or obsolete.  Scorpio is the only sign that has three symbols signifying the mastery of the emotions: the scorpion; the eagle and the phoenix. The first level scorpion is purely defensive, interpreting reality from the shadows of fear and survival. The second level sees things from a higher perspective and is not afraid to soar to great heights. The third level has achieved spiritual mastery and can rise from its own ashes to be born anew. Wherever a “system” is stuck (whether government, economic, religious or personal), it is time to let go, forgive, and move on to create something new.

Power is the Scorpio mantra. It can be used for good, or abused.  Police, the military, political dictators, and even martial arts, all come under Scorpio ruler ship. Since the sign of Scorpio rules big government, big money and big secrets, we will hear much in the coming days regarding hidden agendas coming to light.  It is important to see past the subterfuge and power plays and remain open to new options and opportunities; freezing up in fear or retaliating in anger to things that we cannot control does not really serve our highest purpose. Trust must be learned as well as earned. This is one of Scorpio’s biggest and most challenging themes.

Nothing in this universe remains stagnant for very long. Change and growth is inevitable. This Scorpio New Moon shakes us out of complacency offering yet another opportunity to let go of old beliefs, situations and circumstances that do not match our inner truth.  Quantum levels of healing can take place, if we are brave enough to forgive and move on.  This lesson will be brought to light by the “Super” Full Moon (11/14) when emotional tides are at their peak and Mother Nature speaks the loudest.

Every New Moon is a new beginning which helps to illuminates the positive qualities of the sign Scorpio is the water sign, which rules our deepest emotions and hidden fears.  Scorpio rules the mysteries of life…what is behind the veil, taboo, secret, and occult. Scorpio is known as the “sexy” sign, but that translates as inner magnetism and charisma, which can attract or repel at will.

We all have an inner Magician, Priestess, Shaman, Psychic Detective, Dark Goddess, and Psychologist indicated by the house where the sign of Scorpio falls in the birth chart. With awareness, these archetypes can be used constructively for our own healing and transformation. The positive side of Scorpio teaches compassion and forgiveness for ourselves and others; the right use of power, loyalty, and self-discipline. We learn that true intimacy is not based on control or possessiveness, but on the desire for oneness, compassion and truth.

The shadow side of Scorpio is abuse of power, secrecy, judgment, emotional repression, obsession, control, revenge and, manipulation. Recognizing and owning your Shadow, rather than projecting onto others, becomes a necessity if you have major Scorpio planets in your chart, especially the Moon, since the Moon rules the subconscious. (It will be interesting to see how both political candidates handle this energy over the next few days).

Working with dreams, shamanic counseling, and other forms of psychotherapy, are all excellent ways of bringing the Shadow into awareness. The parts of the body ruled by Scorpio are the sex organs and the reproductive and elimination systems. Psychological and emotional blockages commonly show up as physical problems in these areas of the body. Yoga, martial arts, body work and massage, especially lymphatic massage, can be extremely helpful in moving blocked energy. Psychotherapy and astrological counseling, rebirthing techniques, and past life regression work, help us move through the emotional fears that keep us “stuck”. This New Moon in Scorpio is a great time to indulge in some quiet time on your own to “recharge your batteries”: schedule a massage, see a romantic movie… being good to yourself   is a necessity, not a luxury.

Both Mercury and the New Moon are in the sign of Scorpio and making a positive trine aspect with Neptune in Pisces. This can be a very imaginative, romantic, magical time.  Our words are very powerful now.  Our emotional intelligence is expanded.  The message here is to combine compassion with perception; intuition with passion. This is the perfect weekend to take a few minutes respite from the chaos and illusion of the material world and meditate on what you would like to create (or recreate) in your reality.   Magic is in the air!

The Sabian symbol for the New Moon at 8 degrees Scorpio states: “A calm lake bathed in moonlight: a quiet openness to higher inspiration.”  In the stillness of the heart, all things are revealed. Whether we live our lives as “scared” or as “sacred “is up to us!
