A few days ago, Baba Yaga presented herself on the Motherhouse of the Goddess Facebook page. I was thrilled! Baba Yaga is one of the goddesses I keep with me throughout the year, but usually she is at the forefront in autumn. I realized how much I have limited the range of this crone Goddess.
As a denizen of the forest, Baba Yaga lives in a hut that spins on chicken feet when ever anyone approaches. She is the Goddess of death and the Goddess of life. What better a time to consider her than in the midst of spring? In her incarnation as Guardian of the Fountain of the Waters of Life, she can help with health issues and restoration.
To celebrate Earth Day, I thought a restorative and nutritious Green Tea Smoothie would be delicious. Made with healthful ingredients and created by spinning in a blender, this invokes Baba Yaga as the Goddess of Life in her whirling magic hut!
Where I live, it was difficult to find Matcha Green Tea powder, but I recalled seeing a Green Tea Latte mix at the grocery store. If you have an Asian grocery nearby, you should be able to find Matcha there. Everything else I pretty much had in my refrigerator. Easy, quick, delicious and nutritious!
- ¼ cup of each Celestial Lattes Matcha Green, almond milk, plain yogurt and chopped kale. (if you have the Matcha Green Tea powder, use 2 teaspoons instead)
- 1 small banana
- 2 teaspoons of agave syrup
- Ice cubes
Everything into the blender. Spin until all the kale is liquefied and the smoothie is nice and green! Give a toast to our Mother Earth, our Green Goddesses and Baba Yaga, Goddess of Life and Death.
