First, I am delighted to announce that the new Lakshmi Blessings Course is now open for registration. Lakshmi is the first in the new Shakti Blessings series that I am working on and the next one, Saraswati Blessings, is already underway. It has been a whirlwind week or two in Lakshmi Land gathering everything she wanted to offer up for your sacred consumption! Also coming are Sacred Shakti Practices with the Sacred Heart Shakti due to launch this month too.
Lakshmi is the Hindu Shakti Goddess of abundance, sustenance, wealth, beauty, vitality, good fortune, and radiance. To honor Lakshmi and the Shakti Blessings that She brings to our lives is to honor the value of everything that we receive spiritually and materially. Through Her, we embrace the yearnings of our heart and the desire to experience the world in absolute love. The intoxicating bliss of Lakshmi is singing us home to the blessings that are waiting in the lotus hearts of our souls.
Working with Shakti is potent and, for me, it means being dumped out of bed at various hours (Lakshmi seems to like 4am) to preserve the ideas and inspirations swirling through my brain while I sleep. Once I reach my desk, I write until She is done. And then, I sit in surprise and gratitude for the manifestation. Goddess is Good and this is a blissful reminder of what we all can achieve by being open to our Wild Inner Shakti and divine flow.
As I was writing and gathering Lakshmi this week, my son interrupted for a moment. He had assumed the male hunter position of standing in front of the open refrigerator door and peering inside. I peeked over my shoulder and raised an eyebrow. He informed me that the refrigerator was empty and I, feeling somewhat guilty for forgetting the marketing, assured him I would dash out so he would not starve. (insert Momma sigh here)
I saved what I was working on in the Lakshmi Blessings Course and departed for the market, repeating to myself that I needed vegetables and REAL food and not just Pop Tarts, cereal, and frozen pizzas. Divine flow is awesome but does not always allow for anything other than absent-minded eating when I remember or ravenous hunger when I stop for the day.
Dashing around the market, I stopped a few times to scribble a note about Lakshmi, and went to check out. The total was $108.88. I started laughing and it brought me into the immediate present. 108 is THE sacred number: there are 108 beads on a mala, we do 108 recitations of mantra, there are 54 letters in the Sanskrit alphabet (2 x 54 = 108), many of the Hindu deities, including Lakshmi, have 108 names. I even chose $18 for the Lakshmi Blessings course price because of the synchronicity.
I took the 108.88 as a HOLY YES from Goddess. A moment of sacred laughter to keep me going. A confirmation that SHE … Shakti … Lakshmi … Goddess was paying attention and wanted me to know. I laughed all the way home. I prepared a meal that had nothing to do with Pop Tarts or frozen food and gave thanks for my life, my son, and Goddess. And then I stepped back into Lakshmi Land and we got to work.
The myths and stories about Lakshmi all confirm the importance of being open to her blessings and presence. If she perceives that we do not value her gifts, she withdraws and takes all the good with her. Some days it is hard work to balance the sacred and what we think are “just” mundane concerns. Shakti teaches us that it is ALL sacred and we invite divine flow and energy by making it ALL holy. Even going to the market. And sometimes, even eating Pop Tarts.
What are you grateful for right now? How do you receive messages from the divine? Are you ready for some Lakshmi Blessings?
