New Moons are new beginnings each and every month. Intentions that are seeded at the New Moon are then carried to fruition with the cycle of the waxing Moon, peaking at the Full Moon (which happens on July 1 AND July 31 – a blue moon!). This New Moon is in Gemini and also has a strong Mars conjunct with the Sun and Moon. We embrace the energy of Gemini (ruled by Mercury who just went direct from retrograde) and you will find this lunation filled with ideas, communication, mindfulness, connections, and change. How very appropriate that two of the Goddesses who have stepped forward this week are shapeshifters extraordinaire!
Underlying the the higher mind energy of Gemini is the call to action from Mars; however, and there always seems to be a however when dealing with the potent fire of Mars, the call to action should be tempered with focus. Random actions or bursts could degrade to aggressive versus assertive and for this, we are grateful for the calming aspect of White Tara.
Our Goddesses for the week are bright and blessed energies to usher in the Summer Solstice on June 21. They bring the opportunity for change and transformation, as well as provide a sacred and restorative space in which to effect that transformation.
Vila flashed Her wings at me when Her card came up. Her message was “looks can be deceiving”. Vila and Her sisters, the Vily, are the spirits and energies of the woods, mountains, and clouds in Eastern Europe. They are known for their shapeshifting abilities, being able to call many forms such as snake, swan, horse, falcon, wolf, and even clouds, fog, and whirlwinds. As protectress of Nature, Vila is also known as a fierce warrior who can grant wishes or dance a transgressor to death for offending Her and Her sacred places. Her beauty is renowned, but do not let it distract you from the intense warrior aspect of Her nature.
And therein lies the root of Her message, which is in keeping with the Gemini and Mars energy in this lunation; do not be distracted by the bright and shiny while ignoring the negative potential of acting impetuously. Identify the boundaries of your thoughts and intentions. Be clear, specific, and then take focused action. Vila’s energy allows for and encourages shapeshifting but only after calculated thought and thorough investigation. Connect with Vila and the Vily within nature to allow the space and quiet for contemplation, away from distractions (deceptions). Bring an offering of cakes or flowers to leave in the forest as thanks for time in their sacred places.
Epona is the Horse Goddess of the Gauls (Celtic French) and said to be the offspring of a man and a mare. She is a shapeshifter as well, able to take the form of each of her parents. Epona’s presence whispered, “ride with me“! Epona moves fluidly in both of Her forms from this world to the astral and inner realms. She communicates frequently in dreams and brings messages of strength during times of change and transformation. Epona’s symbols are evocative of the themes of Summer Solstice – a rounded disc representing the Sun; a cornucopia reflecting the abundance of Goddess at this time of year; even the horse itself is a solar symbol.
Epona is evoking the strong impulses of action from Mars this week. Harness Her energy to propel you forward creatively, psychically, and with conscious direction. Revel in the wind blowing through your hair as She carries you to your next destination. Give thanks for Her strength and companionship not only this week, but whenever you are in need of Her protection and forward movement. Light a gold candle or a white candle on a gold plate for Epona this week and for Summer Solstice. She is always ready to go!
The Goddess watching over everything this week is White Tara. Compassion, mercy, unending love and protection, and peace are the gifts that White Tara brings to your week and this lunation. Breathe in Her love and breathe out all that creates chaos in your mind and life. Breathe in Her light and breathe out the patterns and energies that are heavy and bringing you down. Breathe in Her protection and breathe out fear and sadness. White Tara is vigilant in Her love and protection.
She is called Mother of the Buddha and is depicted with seven eyes that see all within this world and other worlds. As the New Moon brings new beginnings, White Tara brings renewal as well. She gathers us to Her heart and makes space for us to contemplate what we truly want in our life. What blessings could this lunation bring to you? What can you offer up to White Tara to purify your mind, body, spirit?
Meditate with the wisdom of Tara, chant Her mantra:
Om Tare Tuttare Ture Svaha
translated various ways to mean:
Om and Salutations to the Mother of All Blessings.
Om and Salutations. May the Mother of All guard and protect me and fulfill my needs.
Happy New Moon! Happy Summer Solstice!
Bright Blessings for a wonderfully magickal week!

My Goddess Oracle Box has Goddess Cards from multiple decks and contains over 300 Goddesses. One day as I was playing with the Goddess cards, I had the urge to mix them all together and so the Goddess Oracle Box was born! The cards from this reading came from the following decks:
Vila – The Goddess Oracle Deck & Book Set by Amy Sophia Marashinsky
Epona – Goddess Knowledge Cards by Susan Seddon Boulet
I did the cards and the video on the MotherHouse of the Goddess Altar – if you have any petitions or prayers that you would like me to add to the altar, please leave a comment!
