The Irish Triple Goddess Brigid (also spelled Brigit, Brighid, or Bride) is the Goddess of poetry, healing and smithcraft. She is the flame, the physical fire and heat of the sun, the spark of inspiration and creativity, as well as spiritual transformation. Holy wells are some of Her sacred places. Brigid’s festival is Imbolc – February 1 – 2 and is celebrated in Ireland to current day. Brigid made the transformation from ancient Goddess to beloved Christian saint (Saint Brigid of Kildare) and Her Sacred Flame continues to burn at Kildare.
Brigit: Sun of Womanhood is a rich anthology and features writers from Ireland, Scotland, Canada and the USA including Carol Christ, Sr. Rita Minehan, M. Macha Nightmare, Dolores Whelan, Joan McBreen, Matthew Geden, and many others.
**The giveaway is open from 2/1/15 to 2/8/15 – participants must be in the USA to receive a physical copy – winners outside of the USA may be provided an electronic copy – winners will be notified via email and on this post. I’ve been to Brigit’s well in her feast (2006) and know some about her…I’d love to know morw
Thank you, Sue! That must have been magical!
Our business is named after Brigid because she speaks so deeply to the heart of our family and our mission.
Molly!! Hellllo 🙂 I love your work! And what a wonderful Patroness for a business!
This is such a lovely giveaway. I have been wanting to get this book for months.
Brightest blessings!
I love Brigid’s passion and strength. She represents my inner erotic fire! xoxo
Brigid came to me at a time where I needed divine inspiration and light in my life. All my life I’d worked with Darker Goddesses (heck, even my matron Goddess is The Morrigan! haha) and yet, Brigid came around to help give me that balance and show me light beyond the darker places within myself that I was working really hard to heal. She’s a fabulously strong and generous Goddess with a fiery personality at times and creative influence! It would be awesome to add this book to my collection to continue to further my relationship with her!
I like to honor Brigid because She represents hearth and home. She represents family to me.
A fiery Goddess – l love it! What a beautiful giveaway – thank you so much!
I had just made the commitment to know the Goddesses more a few days ago. How perfect that the opportunity to read a book of Brigid just may start my journey!
I love connecting with Brigid! Thanks for this opportunity!
Brigid is uniquely special to me. As a child I knew her at saint as I was raised Catholic. As a teen, I came to know her as a goddess. She is the “fire in the head” the inspiration. She is the creative spark, that I , as an artist thrive on.
My birthday is coming up and I can think of nothing better than learning more! Especially interesting that Brigid seems to emulate so many categories that have seemed pertinent in my life lately. Really could use some of that fire to help get some creative projects rolling!
Salutations!
Good luck to everyone who’s entered!
