October is an extremely potent month astrologically with two major eclipses and mercury retrograde. (Listen to my in-depth October Astrology Update interview regarding the “Blood Moon” eclipse and Mercury retrograde on Goddess Alive Radio.)
Eclipses occur in cycles and are actually New and Full Moons; however, they are more impactful than the “normal” new and full moons. Eclipses deal with the electromagnetic currents affecting our planet, as well as the physics of “light” which affects the human pineal gland and serotonin levels in the brain. We, as humans, respond to this physically, as well as on the subconscious level. This is time of great shifting, energy fluctuations and enormous challenges (especially on the physical level), but also one of optimal growth and evolution (See the Grand Fire Trine). This is also the month of major religious holidays in the Jewish and Muslim traditions. At this time in our spiritual (r) evolution, it is crucial to remember that we are all One, and to focus on what we share in common, rather than what separates us.
This Full Moon falls in the signs of Aries/Libra. (Sun in Libra with the Full Moon in the opposite sign of Aries). Aries is the cardinal fire sign, the first sign of the zodiac. On the personality level, it is where we begin to “individuate” and stretch our egos. In this New Age, we are learning to balance our male/female sides. The 2,000 year old patriarchal paradigm of “might is right”, whether in the guise of political fascism, religious fanaticism, or relationship dysfunction is coming to an end; but in true Aries fashion, it will not bow out quietly. This Full Moon in Aries sets the stage for two major eclipses where issues of power, control and manipulation come up for serious review. If your Sun sign is Aries, this is your personal Full Moon. It is a good time to actively participate in life, rather than sitting it out on the sidelines. Begin a new project, make plans for the future; have an adventure, but take some positive action. Aries is NOT the sign of the procrastinator! Where the sign of Aries falls in your birth chart will tell what area (s) of life you are willing to take some risks, or where you are feeling restless and want to see changes. A new 19 year cycle is beginning this month. The trick with Aries is to implement change without being reckless, impatient or scattered. Think back 19 years ago? What did you begin then? What needs to change now in your life?
During the Full Moon in Aries, both the Moon and the planet Uranus are in the sign Aries making a challenging aspect to Pluto in Capricorn. This is a very combustible aspect, which calls for much patience, restraint and “cool-headedness” before jumping to conclusions. On the personal level, as well as the global level, it is crucial that we think objectively and not overreact emotionally to stress. This is a very volatile combination of planets. It is a time for world leaders to remain grounded and centered in the midst of an avalanche of external pressures. I have been talking about the pressures of the “Grand Cardinal Cross” configurations for some time now (see previous month’s newsletters archived at www.pachaterra.com).
There is also a Grand Fire Trine in operation this month with the Moon and the planets Jupiter, Uranus and Mars. Jupiter in Leo and Mars in Sagittarius add a sense of expansion and adventure to the pioneering spirit of the Moon and Uranus in Aries .This lends hope and optimism for the future… “ A rainbow peeping out of the clouds”…just in time!
