Everyone is familiar with traditional astrology, but what is “Jungian” Astrology?
Jungian astrology combines the best of both worlds, that of astrology and transpersonal psychology, and creates a new “alchemy”: the ancient star knowledge combined with new insight of modern psychology.
Jungian astrology addresses the basic interpretation of the birth chart (sign, planets, houses, aspects and transits, etc.) with the added multi-dimensionality of the psychological insight and metaphysical awareness as pioneered by Dr. Carl G. Jung, who was a brilliant psychoanalyst as well as an adept astrologer and gifted channel.
In Jungian astrology we look at the “whole” person : body, mind and spirit. We work with the psychological archetypes of the Self; the animus and the anima (inner male and female); and the Shadow not only to identify an individual’s problems, but to work towards psychological growth and harmony. Each birth chart tells a story, and that story resonates with the myths and archetypes associated with the planets and signs.
Jungian astrology helps to uncover that story through the discovery of our inner “priestess”, “shaman”, sage” and “muse” (among many others) . Through this process, we can then better access our innate gifts, talents and creativity. We can look at the birth chart from the point of view of the “collective unconscious” and past lives with the karmic significators to help an individual define their inner spiritual path or mission.
Dream analysis and creative imagery also plays a part in Jungian Astrology.
What a wonderful way to “see” the soul’s wisdom as encoded in the birth chart!
