My morning began rather uneventfully. I was making coffee and bustling through the kitchen. My morning chants were cycling through the player and I wasn’t really paying attention until I found myself singing along …
Om Kali Om Kali Om Kali Om Om Kali Om Kali Ommmmmm
Om Kali Om Kali Om Kali Om Om Kali Om Kali Ommmmmm
My body was swaying, my Shakti was rising and soon the chant felt as it was erupting from my throat. And I let it flow. After all, does one say no to Kali?
Om Kali Om Kali Om Kali Om Om Kali Om Kali Ommmmmm
Om Kali Om Kali Om Kali Om Om Kali Om Kali Ommmmmm
My world split in two – I had one foot on the cold tile of my floor and one foot in Her world. I smelled burnt offerings and it had nothing to do with my waffles. And I continued the chant.
Om Kali Om Kali Om Kali Om Om Kali Om Kali Ommmmmm
Om Kali Om Kali Om Kali Om Om Kali Om Kali Ommmmmm
Kali devours and Kali enlightens.
Vivekenanda’s poem:
“I am not one of those,” he chanted,
“Who puts the garland of skulls round
Thy neck,
And then look back in terror
And call Thee ‘The Merciful’.
The heart must become
a burial ground,
Pride, selfishness, and desire all
broken into dust,
Then and then alone with the Mother
dance there!”
Om Kali Om Kali Om Kali Om Om Kali Om Kali Ommmmmm
Om Kali Om Kali Om Kali Om Om Kali Om Kali Ommmmmm
I collapsed in my chair as the last chant resounded I blinked. And I smiled. Good Morning, Ma Kali.

Love it Kimberly! Thanks for this post!
One of my favorite Kali mantras is Om Kleem Kalikaye Namaha!
It took me a while to understand Kali. Ever since I learned of her, she’s pulled me towards her. Now I know why. She puts you right in your truth–no matter how fierce that truth is. No matter what kinds of changes you’re going to have to make in order to live your truth. She is the end of all bullshit, all illusion, all belief.
Go to Kali when you really want to know what’s up. Just know that your world just may tremble, crumble, and come crashing down around you–BUT it’s all in service of your divine and authentic self.
Blessings!
Beautiful Mantra!!!!! And I love what you say here about Kali – so true! She is tough but as with many of the Dark Goddesses, while change can be painful and chaotic, there is always a reason on the other side of it. JAI MA!
Oh yesss <3

Hello
Am very amazed to know how much you know about Kali Ma. I am pretty new in worshipping Kali Ma. Last 8 years of my life I have been advised by my priest to pray to Her. But I fear a lot. Now itz my time to make Her as my guru in my spiritual journey. I would like to know the very basic mantra to be practiced daily. I have tried some of Her mantra but my body becomes very heaty within minutes of chanting and I get severe headache. Appreciate your input very much. Thanks.
Simply trust her. After a while you will see the change and that change will please u.bz this is direct from mother.
How do you pronounce the whole saying? Every word. I’m learning, and I want to learn correctly 🙂
