This newsletter will be more condensed than usual, as I am writing this New Moon message from Luxor, Egypt, the “birthplace” of the Age of Aries. Last night, I sat on my roof “stargazing” as the Moon danced with Venus, and the belt of Orion was overhead. Today, as I visited KARNAK Temple, and walked along the entrance of ram-headed sphinxes, I felt the “procession of the ages” quite literally as a physical sensation. I felt extremely grounded, but also connected to the “heavens” at the same time. The phrase “light body” took on an altogether different meaning. Rather than a body made of light; I was aware of being very present in my physical body, but feeling incredibly lighter. We really are walking between worlds at this time, and Egypt is, and always has been, an incredible “fast track” to the higher dimensions. I am very blessed to have spent the past month here enjoying the timeless beauty of the temples, as well as the kindness and hospitality of my Egyptian friends. A new cycle begins….. As sunlight increases, nature becomes more fertile and the human pineal gland becomes more active. This is time of optimal growth and evolution. This is also the month where the three major Western religions (which ALL originated in the Middle East) celebrate religious holidays. At this time in our spiritual (r)evolution, it is crucial to remember that we are all One, and to focus on what we share in common, rather than what separates us.
This New Moon is a crucial turning point. Not only is it the second New Moon of the month of March, but it is the first New Moon following the Vernal Equinox and emphasizes the new life cycle of spring in the Northern Hemisphere. Aries is the cardinal fire sign, the first sign of the zodiac. On the personality level, it is where we begin to “individuate” and stretch our egos. In this New Age, we are learning to balance our male/female sides. The 2,000 year old patriarchal paradigm of “might is right”, whether in the guise of political fascism, religious fanaticism, or relationship dysfunction is coming to an end; but in true Aries fashion, it will not bow out quietly. This New Moon in Aries sets the stage for next month’s two major eclipses where issues of power and control come up for serious review (more on that in April).
If your Sun sign is Aries, this is your personal New Moon. It is a good time to actively participate in life, rather than sitting it out on the sidelines. Begin a new project, make plans for the future, have an adventure, but take some positive action. Aries is NOT the sign of the procrastinator! Where the sign of Aries falls in your birthchart will tell what area (s) of life you are willing to take some risks, or where you are feeling restless and want to see changes. The trick with Aries is to implement change without being reckless, impatient or scattered.
During the New Moon we have three major planets (Sun, Moon and Uranus) in the sign Aries opposite Mars in Libra and square Pluto in Capricorn and also square Jupiter in Cancer. This a very challenging aspect called a “Cardinal Cross or Grand Cross”. On the personal level, as well as the global level, it is crucial that we think objectively and not overreact emotionally to stress. This is a very volatile combination of planets. It is a time for world leaders to remain grounded and centered in the midst of an avalanche of external pressures.
Last evening (March 28), Venus danced with the Moon in the night sky, both prime archetypal symbols for feminine consciousness, telling us to “Make love, not war”!
