In the time-honored traditions of my youthful New Year’s celebrations, I say: “Let’s get this party started!“.
The New Year is here and full of promise, excitement, and anticipation. It is a golden opportunity to shed the old and fully embrace the new. Rather than resolutions that can fall off by the time that February arrives, I invite you to choose your power word for 2014. One word. One thought. One promise to yourself that encapsulates what you desire for 2014 – the WHOLE year.
I have been participating in “choosing a word for my year” for several years. It came up on blogging communities years ago and is a wildfire that runs through blogs all over the year. Reading other people’s words and choosing my own is an annual ritual that I relish. This year, with space in my new place, I invited a group of women to come this weekend and create their vision boards for 2014 to include THE POWER WORD OF THE YEAR.
How do we find this elusive one word that will represent our entire year?
Take some time to meditate – to be quiet with yourself. Assess the past year – what were your successes? What were your challenges? What are the desires and opportunities that you want to invite into 2014 for yourself? How does this word make you feel? And what actions will you need to take to achieve your word?
Let it roll around in your brain for a few days or even few weeks. There is no rush for you to choose and implement!
Reinforce your word by journaling/blogging about it. Making a vision board around it. Post notes around the house, find quotes that contain the word and things/ideas/music that evoke the word in you.
Need some inspiration?? I found PLENTY to get your word party started for the New Year!
