Hello Everyone, Happy New Year! What a wonderful way to begin the New Year with a New Moon. I hope you are all ready to plant the seeds for your new intentions and resolutions. January 2014 is THE month for new beginnings. We have two New Moons (Jan 1 and Jan 30)….twice the potential for manifesting our visions into reality. So, let’s do it!
On Friday, I was on Goddess Alive Radio and talking about the upcoming astrology updates, the course, and Egypt – you can listen to the full show here:
The first New Moon of 2014 falls on New Year’s Day at 10 degrees of the sign of Capricorn. Capricorn is the cardinal Earth sign which signifies our connection to Mother Earth, our karmic lineage, and our roots. Capricorn grounds our energy; it allows us to build a solid foundation for the future. This is the time to manifest our true potential and seriously commit to our Soul purpose. Capricorn’s energy is not for the dilettante or the immature; it is the sign of Mastery, but we must be committed, focused and disciplined to achieve our goals. Capricorn’s energy teaches that if we “walk our talk”, we will succeed. Capricorn is the sign that teaches us self- responsibility, and that karmically, we evolve from children to adults. In esoteric astrology, Capricorn is the sign of the Initiate, as well as the Adept.
The planet which rules the sign of Capricorn is Saturn, also known as the “karmic teacher”. Saturn rules the concept of three dimensional “time” and physical boundaries. There are no short-cuts when we are under the auspices of Capricorn and Saturn. It is essential to understand the importance of “good timing”, as well as patience. But now we are also learning the secret of “no time”… how to “stretch” time and become more “in sync” with our multidimensional aspects.
Capricorn rules the physical support system of the body: our skeleton, bones, teeth, and skin. It teaches us to take responsibility for our bodies in physical reality. We cannot complete our spiritual work unless our bodies can handle the immense influx of energies pouring into this planet. Honoring our bodies as Temples of Light is part of the program now.
On Jan 1st, we not only have the Sun and Moon, but three other planets joined in the sign of Capricorn: Mercury, Venus and Pluto. This is known as a “stellium” and means the Capricorn energy is intensified and multiplied. Mercury and Venus in Capricorn will be highlighting relationships in our life, especially business and/or creative alliances. When Venus is in Capricorn, responsibilities concerning love and money become an issue; rethinking our commitments becomes a priority. Pluto in Capricorn means that no stone will be left unturned getting to the bottom of things….secrets will be uncovered…. New archaeological and historical announcements may take precedence along with business and political scandals. Capricorn rules power, government, and big business, as well as the “Earth”. We may see news regarding a rise of “green” businesses, as well as a renewed concern for global warming solutions, as weather related crises continue to increase.
The Cardinal Cross
This New Moon is also part of a complex astrological alignment called a Cardinal Cross involving the cardinal signs Aries, Cancer. Libra and Capricorn ( our four Capricorn planets mentioned above; plus Jupiter, Mars and Uranus ALL making squares and oppositions to each other and forming the Cardinal Cross. This is an EXTREMELY challenging configuration that will take much patience and self-control; i.e. “self-mastery” to navigate. Cooperation and teamwork are necessary now, whether we are talking global events or personal situations. The lessons of the previous October and November eclipses indicated that cleaning up the past is a critical element for creating the future. This Cardinal Cross may “push” events that came up between mid- October and mid- November to the forefront. Over-reacting emotionally to unexpected events or crisis is a human response; however, we must learn to channel the adrenaline rush and volatile energy of this configuration (Mars opposite Uranus) into positive action, rather than negative reaction. Anger and resentment will not help to heal a situation, but only increase the pain. The preponderance of Capricorn planets aggravated by the Mars and Uranus square may take on an “authoritarian” stance. We may see events played out on the global stage that seem extremely volatile. Most of these are not new events, but are suddenly triggered again. The chart of the U.S. is directly impacted by this Cardinal Cross. In this country, there may be a public resistance to rules and regulations brought on by economics, such as social welfare cuts, loss of unemployment benefits, health insurance snafus, etc. However, tremendous breakthroughs can occur if mutual cooperation and peaceful negotiations (Mars in Libra) can be used to defuse politically aggravated scenarios (Uranus in Aries). There is no way to stay stuck in the past with these aspects. Evolution may be challenging; but it is inevitable. The breakdown of the old systems is already in motion. We are in the midst of a New Year and a New Age! Both Saturn and the North Node are in Scorpio and make positive aspects to the Capricorn stellium. They signify the “cosmic order” of things . There is no going backward. If we learn from the past; release our mistakes and let go, forgiving ourselves and others in the process, it is possible to manifest a New Earth ; one that is built on the foundations of ethical leadership and individual responsibility, rather than power, control and greed.
If you are a Capricorn this a big month for you. You may be in the process of completely changing major aspects of your life, or important people in your life. Capricorns are not afraid of power, but they generally do not like change. It’s good to remember that change is not neccessarily disruptive; it can be exciting and life-affirming. Your need to create, shape and direct your energies into tangible results make you extremely alert to opportunities and how to utilize them. (This can be described as the famous Capricorn ambition at work.) This New Moon will bring a tremendous potential for growth and opportunity. You may even get a new “mission statement”. The other cardinal signs ( Aries, Cancer, Libra and Capricorn) will also be feeling the Grand Cross “pushing the envelope” for change. So, take a deep breath, and know that you are consciously co-creating your reality.
Find your quiet inner space and relax. Light a white candle. Take a few deep breaths , centering yourself in the moment. Take a piece of paper and write down your intentions for the New Moon/New Year. Fold the paper and keep it near you. Now, Imagine yourself lying down on the earth in a deep pine wooded forest beneath a majestic pine tree, whose branches stretch miles into the sky. This is your Tree of Life. Pine needles make a soft cushion beneath you, and you feel totally relaxed and at one with the Earth. You can smell the evergreen trees all around you, and you breathe in deeply the essence of pine, cypress and cedar. Lying on the soft earth, you can look up and see the sky above you. Even though it is daylight, you can see the outline of the Crescent Moon and a brilliant blue/white star pulsating above it. This is the perfect “wishing” star, the Star Sirius. You remember your list if intentions and repeat them to yourself (or out loud) while concentrating on this star. (If you don’t remember them all , they are already written on the paper, which is sufficient.) You recall that the Goddess Isis is connected with this Star Sirius. See yourself planting your “wish list” below the big pine treat. Then, imagine the light from the star “watering” your list and the roots of the tree. Also, feel the light from this star penetrate your crown chakra and proceed down the meridians of your body to your feet. You are pulsing with star light in your body. Now, picture each of your intentions as if it had already come true, and imagine how you would feel if that were true. Now, ask Isis (however you picture her) to help you in manifesting. You sit with her for awhile and feel her beautiful unconditional love and support for you. You truly feel like her Divine Child. After a few minutes, you thank her; say goodbye to her and feel your body waking on the pine cone floor. Bring your awareness to the present. Take the paper with your intentions and place it on your Christmas tree (if you don’t have one, place it on your altar). Watch what happens over the next 2 weeks as your Tree of Life nurtures your intentions.
