Sas Petherick is a warm, authentic and wise woman. She is a Coach, a Writer and (in my opinion) an instigator of inspiration whether you are following her blog posts or Facebook. She is a Life Transformer for people who want an Amplified Life full of WOO HOO! moments and has spent almost twenty years helping thousands of people navigate change in their place of work, before a combination of loss and grief prompted her own transformation path.
Since our theme for September is Body, Embodyment and Grounding, I had to share some of the wonderful offerings from Sas that fall directly under that heading. We connected last winter for an email interview and I am sharing that here on The MotherHouse so you all have a chance to get to know her better! You can also tweet her @SasPetherick or the links above.

Interview with Sas:
1. What are three words that people use to describe you?
Crazy Cat Lady or smart, curious, funny (the perspective largely depends on the kindness of your readers to not judge a person by their Instagram feed).
2. What are you most proud of professionally? Personally?
In both cases – following my heart.
After a horrible divorce, I put myself back together with a thick layer of determined independence around my heart. I found it really difficult to imagine that I could ever feel safe with someone again. And when I met Ash I felt instantly at home with him, it was as if we had known each other forever. Still, the first few years were tough! Learning to share my life again, to trust him and to let him love me was terrifying. I am so proud of our healthy, messy, real marriage.
I spent a couple of decades immersed in corporate life, managing big risky complex projects to transform organisations. While this work was rewarding and challenging it always felt like I had someone else’s dream job and it never felt like my true purpose. Conversations with my own inner guidance system, (whom I affectionately call Sas-Nav) has pulled me to coaching: a gentler sort of transformation work. I am so proud that I kept doggedly following my heart to create a whole new career that is shaping up to be more fulfilling that I could have ever imagined.
3. How do you de-stress?
Pulling on my wellies and going for a walk in Richmond Park for half an hour gets me out of my head. Wild deer roam free there – it is incredibly life affirming to be less than a few feet away from a 200 pound stag.
Meditation has become an incredibly important, usually daily practice for me. It always brings me back to myself.
I will never underestimate the power of a bubble bath and an early night.
4. What is your favorite place in the world?
Bed.
5. What book are you reading right now?
As usual, I have a couple on the go: Durrell’s ‘My Family and Other Animals’, Jen Lee’s ‘Right-brained Business Plan’ and I am re-reading Martha Beck’s ‘Finding Your Way in a Wild New World’.

6. What sound or noise do you love?
My niece giggling and the contented lazy purring of our cats Rex and Badger.
7. What does a normal day’s schedule look like for you?
As I build my business I split my week between my day job and my soul job. Today is soul job day so I am coming to you live from my favourite local café. I plan to spend the morning writing and catching up on email and admin, followed by two coaching clients this afternoon and a Skype call with a gorgeous fellow coach later this evening.
8. What is on your Adventure List for 2013?
In May, I am traveling on my own to San Francisco – my friend Randi has promised me sea otter sightings! Read about her awesome trip!
I am thrilled to be launching my first group coaching programme this Spring. emBODYment is for women who want a conscious and peaceful relationship with their body. I am putting everything I know into this! After ending my own 30 year body battle, I am amazed to have a conscious and deeply loving relationship with my body that has me 65 pounds lighter. And all the energy that had been taken up with shame and guilt and fear and the endless, exhausting obsession with the size of my thighs, is now available to me. For a taste of what’s to come download The Body Stories. Its all kind of gorgeous.
This year Ash and I will be celebrating five years of togetherness, which is the best adventure of my life.
9. What profession other than your own would you like to attempt?
I have a not-so-secret desire to run my own café. We’ll roast our own coffee beans, serve the best brunch for miles and there will be an afterschool story-time. I even know what it will be called!
10. Where will you be in five years?
I hope to have a thriving coaching practice, including one-to-one work, group coaching and online courses, as well as leading retreats that requires travel to many warm places.
We’ll be living in the English countryside, with at least one shaggy dog.
11. What are three things that INSPIRE you?
I am amazed and inspired by the resilience of human beings. It astounds me how much heart-break and loss we can bounce back from, often stronger and more aware. We are awesome.
My eyes. I try to take photos every day. Noticing what is around me has become a way of staying really present in my life.
The poets who shake my heart in a handful of words.
12. What is the best advice that you can share for other women on balancing their lives – personally, spiritually, professionally?
Balance is a messy, imperfect daily practice and we are all making this up as we go along.
I think the most important gift can give ourselves is a little sacred time each day. Just a few moments to breathe, feel your feet connected to the earth, know you are loved exactly as you are, in this second. Then: back to the chaos.
Thank you, SAS for sharing all these delicious delightful parts of you!
